Firebox or Inspire as standalone mic preamp?

It would rock if you could, (they need to release a new damn driver for the firebox. btw, if you've seen my firebox woe posts, I narrowed it down a driver issue. Need to do slight more troubleshooting, but it's in my sights :P ) but you cant use it as a standalone pre. You cant even route...

    Cubase Le -Only 4 inputs

Did you upgrade LE, or do a different install? I know this was changed in the past, they limited the # of inputs.

    What will these provide?

Recording sound cards would work fine with games, although you're probably going to have to pass up stuff like EAX, which those soundblaster cards almost definitly have. However, a card like the 1212 works fine for games, but I would argue the soundblaster does NOT work fine for recording...

Calling off my interest, decided on a different drum machine.

    Mixers and my firebox...

No, the firebox is 6in. 2pres, 2lines, 2spdif. Thanks for clearing up the spdif some for me, I wasn't clear whether that could be used to connect pres or if it was just some sort of digital thing. The spdif/analog converter though, is this just an adapter, or an actual piece of equipment...

    A Newbie Needs Help

If I read this right, you're trying to mix (or master, or whatever its called) with headphones. General concensus is that this is bad. Do what you have to to mix through speakers (you can get some cheap studio monitors like the krk rokit 5's). This is probably why they sound good while...

    Mixers and my firebox...

So I'm just looking ahead and wondering in what ways I can mic drums with my firebox. In what ways would a mixer be useful, and what can I use spdif for? Thanks

Im sure you guys get tons of these...

Do you need to do mixing? If so, don't forget about monitors. Also, and inspire might work just as well for you rather than a firebox (and save you $100). They both are limited by 2 pres, and 2 line ins. Midi and spdif seem like the only major differences.

    firewire cards

If you check out the support page at belkin, and open the operating manual, it confirms a TI chip. • Texas Instruments TSB12LV23 OHCI-Lynx 1394 Link Layer Host Controller • Texas Instruments TSB41LV02 Digital to Analog transceiver This is only for the F5U513, their older model (with the...

Questions on LE with FireBox recording

I was just checking in on this thread, and thought I'd add some basic info (not sure how much you know on this). When setting volume levels, make sure w/ the initial recording you're just getting nice hot levels out of every input. You can always drop the volume after the fact.

    soundcard for laptop?

I'm assuming the emu card you were looking at was the 1616(m) which has the pcmcia card, along with a connection to a breakout box. This box is where the xlr plugs in. The card itself only has an 1/8" headphone jack, and is meant only for listening to music without the breakout box connected.

    firewire cards

I believe the new belkin cards use TI. If you find one in a retail outlet let me know where, because I need to buy one from a place with a kind return policy.

    Firebox stuttering

Edit: Yay!!! I seem to have fixed the problem. I reformatted my hard drive, and installed a different copy of windows i got through a student program. I had previously been using the acer copy of windows. Anyway, it's either the copy of windows I was using had some tweaks my firebox didn't...

    syncing audio tracks

I have to admit I didn't put a whole lot of time trying to figure out the metronome, but I enable the click, set the time and it doesn't click. Perhapes because I'm using the fireboxs' direct monitor, and not monitoring through cubase. As far as the fixing the issue, I have made a handful of...

Questions on LE with FireBox recording

I'm rather new to this, and not quite sure what you mean by songs sounding like one instrument (what type of music?), but I'm guessing the big difference you're hearing from your recordings and radio is EQing (this makes the mix mesh) and like you said, volume levels.

    Presonus Firebox for Drum Recording?

Or email presonus and check on the status of daisy chaining the fireboxes'. What Travis said would work just fine, but if you're going to be buying 2 preamps you may as well think of just getting another firebox (and if you're getting 2 fireboxes, why not a firepod?) because if you do it...

    syncing audio tracks

What if I don't use the metronome in cubase? First, I cant get it to work for some reason, second I don't trust it as all audio played back plays jumpy. A jumpy metronome just doesn't cut it :P Can hitpoint detection be used? When I make the hitpoints, it does detect the first strum...

    syncing audio tracks

So, for some reason playback using my firebox doesn't work right. The tracks randomly skip on playback making overdubbing next to impossible since it throws out the rhythm of the track I'm trying to play over. So... what I'm trying to do is just play to my metronome and sync up the audio...

Why wouldn't i buy the prosonus firebox?

I'm not sure you can daisy chain the firepod and the firebox. have you done this before? I think you may be able to daisy chain the firebox to another firebox (giving 4 pre's) but that's not actually verified on their site last I checked. Also, you may encounter problems using a fw hard...

    New Presonus FireStudio

The faderport seems like a neat piece of gear, is there anything similar to that out there? Looks like it has a small footprint.
