Rant: Upgrade from Sonar HS4 to Sonar 5

You must have missed them. They have been out for both the 1010 and the 1010lt since 4/12/2005. Click "Drivers" Check "Show Beta Drivers" Select "Delta Series" Select "Delta 1010" Select "Windows 64Bit" And you should see the file.

Rant: Upgrade from Sonar HS4 to Sonar 5

M-audio should have 64-bit drivers, though they are "beta." (Make sure you include beta drivers in your search - it is disabled by default on the m-audio site). I'm in the same place.. Just built a new computer, put Win64 on it, but now I'm waiting on my Sonar upgrade to arrive before I can do...

Mesa parallel loop - line level?

The effects loop on my Mesa DC-3 seems to operate around "consumer" line level, which is -10 dBV. (Opposed to "pro" line level, which is +4dBu).

Acoustic pickups for a live performer??

B-Band makes the best and most natural sounding acoustic pickups. It will require professional installation and minimal modifications to your guitar. Otherwise, just get one of those junky soundhole pickups.

    Mesa Boogie Dual Caliber DC-10

I have a DC-3 as well and love it. The amp has mojo. I've had it 8 years and never had a problem with it. HOWEVER, my guitar tech believes the DC series has a serious design flaw - they are full of LDRs which are expensive to replace if they overheat. He says Mesa stopped making the DC...

    These babies

They are Ed Roman guitars.... I have no experience with them, but Ed Roman's reputation makes me hesitant. Many regard him as a shyster. I thought long and hard about custom ordering a guitar from one of his brands, but in the end I chose to play it safe. Read the reviews on Harmony Central...

    Guitar Center

Just because someone runs a small "local" shop doesn't mean they are qualified to repair guitars. Talk to other players and find out where they get their work done. Find someone with a good reputation for doing things right the first time.

    Most Overrated/Overpriced Electric Guitars

As an avid player, I love my PRS. Worth every penny. It plays like a dream and gets me the tone I am after. You're right, though. I wouldn't buy one just to hang on the wall.

    A Few Questions

IMO, whoever is providing the sound system should provide the DI, but... Buy one of these and a mic cable and you'll be all set.

    Wrist problems with pick..help

You might consider seeing a sports medicine doctor. Their attitude is more like "We'll get you fixed up before the big game," while normal doctors are more like "It hurts when you play bass? Well, stop playing bass!" If you develop tendonitis, carpal tunnel, etc. it's going to be a pretty...

    Power chords/Drop D/.. I need help!

Some distortions are not as muddy as others when it comes to complex chords. Also, a chord like Am is 3 notes - A, C, and E. Try playing those notes on 3 strings, instead of six, and see if that cleans it up a bit. In fact, you should learn all the triads on the first three strings - it will...

    Crazy connections in the studio

Never hook anything meant to drive a speaker to anything except a speaker. Never send phantom power to anything except things that want phantom power. Other than that, you should be ok. That doesn't mean you won't ever distort anything, but you should avoid breaking anything.

    I got a guitar...

What were you singing when you visited the Katrina wreckage?

What do you use for drums

I have several discs from Beta Monkey and the quality is top-knotch. You are right, he is a busy player with a heavy touch. There is a lot of double kick stuff, but there are a few sets here and there that are more laid-back. If you go about trying to fit loops to a song you've already...

Question about power supply for my DD-20

It won't hurt it. A brand-new 9v battery has about a 9.35 volt charge on it.

    Need a few Blues Licks

    Here's a sweet Robben Ford lick -3-------------------3------6-- ---3-6---3------3-5----5/8--- -------5----3h4--------------- ------------------------------- ------------------------------- -------------------------------- Starts on the 4, play over G7. They are triplets.

    Blues guitar

I'm 28, generally bored by the blues. When I do listen, it's to learn from guitar players like Robben Ford.
