    Buzz Feiten Tuning

I have a Washburn USA Custom Shop bass with the Buzz Feiten system, and it is always in tune and the intonation is great. It came that way from the factory, so I don't know if it's the Buzz or if it's just a well-made bass... probably a bit of both.

    Best Acoustic Amp

SWR makes some great sounding acoustic amps - the California Blonde and her little sister the Strawberry Blonde. These amps sound fantastic. I don't think they have mic inputs, though. Carvin makes a little acoustic amp (100D?) that has 3 channels - one for acoustic guitar, one for bass, and...

    Has technology ruined your chops?

These days I mostly use my DAW for practice / learning. Cakewalk + cheap guitar/bass modeler + acid drum loops = ultimate composition machine. I am able to experiment with a wide range of things and compose very quickly. I can try all sorts of things that I'd never be able to try with other...

    recording bass,bass amp to direct??

No, a speaker out is going to be carrying power to drive the speaker. It may use a 1/4" connector, but it is not the same signal or cable that carries an instrument or line level signal.

    Playing live:what do I need?

If your band has a PA you can mic whatever amp you have.

    Studio Amp

Mesa makes a lot of great amps that cover a lot of range. You're missing out if you assume they're all for nu metal. I have a Mesa/Boogie 1x12 combo that will crank out sounds from gritty "alt.country" to saucy blues overdrive. Metal is one thing it will not do.

You could try an octave pedal like this. It doubles each note an ocvate below.

    Cleaner problem

Also, over time the sweat and oils from your body will slick the finish where your hand and arm rest on the guitar. My satin-finish Seagull is 10 years old and well worn. You can tell that it's been well loved, and people notice that when they see it. It gives the guitar character and...

    Cleaner problem

Leave it alone, live and learn. I think it is slick not because there is cleaner on your finish, but because the cleaner took some of the finish off.

    Bass V-AMP Pro S/PDIF levels

Last night I increased the input sensitivity, as described in the previous post, and it solved the problem. I turned it up until it started clipping when I slapped the E string, and then backed it off. It ended up only being 1 "dot" or two higher than the default, but that was enough. Now I can...

    Bass V-AMP Pro S/PDIF levels

Badly organized, and full of junk like this: Nonetheless, I have read the whole thing.. cover to cover.. twice. There is no way to adjust the S/PDIF output level, other than the volume knob on the preamp part of the unit. There is a way to adjust input gain, system wide, so I'll try playing...

    Bass V-AMP Pro S/PDIF levels

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I've got a real S/PDIF cable and the Delta clock is set correctly, as you described. I've got a workable signal once I turn the preamp master all the way to 10, but am used to tracking with the signals 6-10 db hotter than that. Are you having to turn up the volume on...

    Bass V-AMP Pro S/PDIF levels

I am connecting the Bass V-AMP Pro to my Delta 66 via S/PDIF and the levels are very low. For most of the presets, I have to crank the preamp volume (2nd knob from the left) all the way up to get the peaks around -6 db on the Delta. The rms is still between -18 and -12. I think the signal going...

    recording a bass!?

I have it and like it a lot. I get a decent clean bass sounds going direct into the pres and inserting a compressor. If you are only recording bass, though, you might look at the POD and VAMP products.
