    Who Gets the Low End?!

    For me it depends on what style of stuff I'm doing. If it's Drum and Bass, it's usually the Subbass at the bottom, then the kick, then mid-bass. Although sometimes I'll have the kick go down low when there is no sub action going on. Industrial/EBM/Gabber or Goa, it's kick. If there is bass in...

    What was done to these vocals?

    BTW, absolutely hated, hated, hated the first tune, the second one was kinda cool, the third one... blah. So, excuse me if I go and wash my ears with this after hearing that nonsense: :D

    What was done to these vocals?

    Also, heavy, heavy compression before autotune. It is autotune as far as pitch stuff is concerned. However, the key to make it sound the way it does is heavy compression, and I am talking something like 12db and more gain reduction, maybe even 2-3 compressors chained. Be careful though, if...

    Pc3k

    I do :( Including setting up internal feedback loops and "playing" the feedback with the sliders controlling filters, volume, etc. Another cool thing is with LiveMode you can "play" the incoming audio at different rates, by playing keys other than middle C, which also ends up causing buffer...

    Cheap-ish Sampler? (live use)

    Sounds like a poorly configured laptop, especially for live use. You should've disabled: Windows Update All network adapters (both LAN/Ethernet as well as wireless) Also: You should NOT have an antivirus software installed. You should NOT have any software that runs in the background that is...

    Cheap-ish Sampler? (live use)

    You might want to take a look at the Korg microSampler. Has some cool live on-the-fly sampling capabilities and is pretty cheap.

    using an external drive?

    Keep an eye out for disk activity hiccups (not being able to play all the audio parts, etc), studders, increased CPU load. YMMV = Your milage may vary. In other words, you may or may not have any performance issues :) If it's a FireWire 800, then you'll likely be fine as it has more throughput.

    How Do I Read Level Meters?

    If I were you, I'd go around the Cave and neg rep everyone who posts there :laughings: That should allow you to give greenies to the ones who really matter :D

    using an external drive?

    Install your programs on the internal drive, where the OS is. Use the external drive to save/store your projects. With Firewire drives, be careful if you have your interface and the drive connected to the same FireWire bus as that may have performance implications although YMMV.

    Don't worry man. It only gets worse from here :D

    How Do I Read Level Meters?

    I think you're overthinking this. As long as you're not going into the red on your meters, and the loudness sounds the same to you (if that's what you want), then you're OK. Those plosives and such can be taken care of through some compression. In fact if your vocal lines are very dynamic...

    Need Help!! (Home Recording & Mixing)

    Yeah man, red flags all over the place. You ain't gonna get pro results with presets. So, first thing first, delete all the presets. Then sit down and actually listen to your stuff and start to identify strenghts and weaknesses, then you will be able to apply the tools you have to achieve...

    Pc3k

    Well, looks like you can load your own samples from disk, but you can't directly sample into the 'board. Which also means no "Live Mode" as you have on the K2600S and K2600XS, which means, this sux as I do tend to use Live Mode often to bring in external audio and mess with it inside the board...

    Pc3k

    I am besides myself! Looks like this is the replacement to my K2600 that I've been waiting for! OMG! And this just floored me: Finally, a PC3 that also supports sampling! Woot! And a hardware sampler that retains samples in memory after you power it off! And then you got Dynamic VAST and...

    Delay question

    I was thinking along the same lines for live use. Set up your delay with high feedback and no high or low frequency rolloff (to keep the same sound) and then use bypass to cut it off abruptly. Although, if in studio with a DAW, RAMI's way gives more precise control.

    What Does 'Normalize' Mean?

    :laughings: :laughings: :laughings: Bastards. How DARE they not standardize on the meaning of words. :mad: Actually, not being a native English speaker, I have to say, English is a difficult language, mainly because the same word has 10,000 different meanings. At the same time, because of...

    What Does 'Normalize' Mean?

    Actually, this gives me an idea for testing the polarity/phase inverter buttons in DAWs. Based on what you said, if you have an audio part on a track with some positive DC offset and press that "p***whatever" button in the DAW, if it is a polarity reversal, then the DC offset will shift as well...
