what DAW are you using? ditch the mixer and get a interface, I say this because I went the mixer route at first and wasted alot of time and money, when I went the interface route it was much easier and you have many more options to play with, :D

I say experiment with it, if it sounds good go with it, a lot of the techniques used today came from people trying different ways of doing things, if you have the same distance between the front and back mics, they should be in phase.:eek:

Traps go on the walls and in the corners, clouds go on the ceiling such as above your mix position or vocal recording area. you can make your own fairly cheap. here are a few pics of mine, it made a huge difference in the room. :D

with the small space and the requirement to be "completely soundproof", then no. you would need more traps than you can fit inside the room, can you make it better? sure. but 100 % soundproof? no. soundproofing and sound treatment are completely different animals. :D
