    Another T-Racks post!

For the money, I can't afford a pro job. Neither can the bulk of the people here. I use t-racks out of default because of price, decent performance and I enjoy the analogue qualities it imparts to my mixes. But the people are right, be gentle with it. There is a fine line between a decent...

    closet isolation booth?

Has anybody tried to make an isolation booth out of a closet, either walk in or normal? I was looking around my apartment for good places to isolate and this was something that just stuck out in my mind. I was thinking of just packing the closet down with blankets. Anybody tried this?

    nature recording

If price is an issue, I would still consider minidisc. I don't claim to have professsional ears, but I think I have better ears than most. The compression on md is minimal to me and the cost is key!

    yet another omni question

Problem solved. It was in the delta control panel. The channels were unmuted, but the faders were not up. People with new deltas make sure to unmute and bring the faders up. Thanks for the solution stealthtech and frist44!

    nature recording

I've done a small amount of nature recordings with a simple minidisc recorder. Seems to work alright. I import them into Sonar and tinker with them then. Good mic is the key. I also work with several biologists who record sound production by fishes. They use all analogue tape recorders...

    yet another omni question

I'm not sure what I did wrong. I'm running a delta omni studio into windows 2K and Sonar 2. Anyways, I had it set up good, but now something's different. My condensor mic is simply running into input 1 of the omni. I can see the signal registering on the faders and inside Sonar, but no sound...

Why Do Some Artists Record In Bathroom ?

It seems to me that engineers do it a certain way because it works. If recording in any room they wanted (possible for some) was better. It seems that they'd do it that way. Dead room plus effects is preferred probably because it's convenient and because it works.

    Delta 66 and a mixer?

Is it necessary or beneficial to have a mixer alongside your delta 66? Does anyone do this and increase their sound performance? The delta omni 66 which I have is "supposed" to do the same things a mixer would, but I'm not convinced. Plus you could have more inputs with a mixer. Anyone?

so what DOES work in XP???

sonar vs PA9 Sonar is better quality hands down. The built in effects are more extensive and the controls are easier and more powerful. Raw audio sounds the exact same to me. I had a bit of a time learning my way around sonar because I was so used to my "usual" places in PA9. Bottom line is...

Best way to record vocals in an appartment

I do similar things. Add blankets on the walls of a room and sing in the middle. Add reverb later. Some apartments are so dead to begin with, you don't need to do that much. Others have different natural reverberations you need to figure out what to do with. Keep experimenting is the only...

    windows xp upgrade

That's right. But if it's loaded already...maybe sort of.

    windows xp upgrade

I know that it doesn't load from scratch in XP. But, I guess maybe if you had it loaded already it sorta works?

My first song on the mixing clinic

Check out my profile website for some REALLY burly recordings I did when I was using a cheap, sound card I now have nightmares about.

My first song on the mixing clinic

I was wondering the exact same thing. It's come to my attention that folks round here really don't care for T-racks that much. Anybody want to comment. I've always liked it a bit, but as you can see am not proficient with it. I always thought it gave it an analogue warmth not otherwise...

    windows xp upgrade

I'm ready to upgrade to windows xp pro. Does ANYONE have problems with this and a delta omni studio? Sonar 2 problems?

My first song on the mixing clinic

Great tips fellas. I'm lovin' the ideas I'm getting here. Anybody have any ideas for extra instrumentation or cutting back on some?

    mandolin

That's a really good point. Maybe that's why it stands out so boldly inside the mix. I'm an alternative tuner with guitars and sometimes with mando. Any other mando players use different tunings?

My first song on the mixing clinic

The center guitar is tuned C#C#C#C#G#C#. It gives it that droning quality I was after. The other panned guitars are standard, but capo'ed at separate fret positions. Thanks fellas for the comments. They are invaluable. I'll work on the mix more tonight and try to post the second version asap.
