In the market for a new bass DI... a versatile one

I'm in between the EH Battalion, Mesa Subway, and Ampeg SCR. What's your thoughts on these? From what I've read and heard, I'm concerned about the Battalion sounding too synthetic when driven, the Mesa adding a lot of fretbuzz no matter the settings, and the Ampeg not being very versatile.

In the market for a new bass DI... a versatile one

Cheers mate, but I've listened to this one and it sounds a bit thin for my liking.

In the market for a new bass DI... a versatile one

The MXR M80 and Ampeg DI do interest me, I've heard a lot of good reviews and bad reviews for a lot of these DI's so it's kinda difficult. Especially when you're listening to someone dial in their tones which they like, which isn't necessarily what I'd like. I guess, I'd like to make my...

I do like the clean sounds from the Hartke, sounds a bit like the EH battalion but I don't like the Hartke overdrive.

In the market for a new bass DI... a versatile one

---------- Update ---------- I don't have a good bass amplifier sadly, I'm using an RME PCI interface, it sounds quite dead plugging the bass directly into it. I've tried messing around with plugins but I haven't been able to get a sound I'm happy with.

In the market for a new bass DI... a versatile one

Hi, I have limited money - can only spend a few pounds but I'm a serious recorder wanting to release my own music on the internet again. I have listened to many DI's, but sadly there are zero music shops where I live so I can't go out to try any before I buy. Primarily I like a clean bass...

Modern Computer Based Recording Studio With Cubase

Do you not think it sounds like there's something wrong with my mixer? I did have a look at the schematic, and agree as soon as I hit record on one of the input channels it should mute it from the main mix and send it out from the record outs. I need this type of functionality, because I use...

Modern Computer Based Recording Studio With Cubase

Just in addition, I want to say something doesn't seem quite right at all here. Had my computer music going through a stereo one channel no aux or fx, record or listen button not selected, all buttons out, just that channel gain, level, main mix, and monitor level at zero - it is being sent out...

Modern Computer Based Recording Studio With Cubase

Hi lads, good news - I built my DAW, and it is working great with really good low latency - all I ever wanted really. However, I'm now having problems with using the Zed 10 mixer. I don't know what's going on with it, but I've used plenty of mixers in the past with cubase, but this takes the...

No, kabylake and skylake don't support Win seven. You might be fortunate enough to install that operating system with them but you'll no doubt have difficulty installing drivers etc. Don't worry about more... vintage equipment - I love it. Two of my most prized possessions - Fender twin reverb...

Modern Computer Based Recording Studio With Cubase

I'm sure mate, that's why I'm budgeting to three-hundred quid for the desktop build. It's a little annoying i have to go haswell, because I want to use win seven. Also, if it was based on skylake and kabylake I could build a computer that was quite a bit faster but it would be cheaper - but they...

Modern Computer Based Recording Studio With Cubase

Yeah, I use VST instruments and effects. I don't have much studio outboard now. I enjoy hearing exactly what is recording, as I can add little bits and peaces to the sound I wouldn't normally be able to do with a dry signal. I've also tried the ASIO4all driver as well as the original...

Modern Computer Based Recording Studio With Cubase

Yeah I see what you mean, but you can also buy analogue expansion boards for it that slot into your PC, but I think it will be a while before I can record a full drum kit again. So that's a way in the future. Good, looks like I've got something to aim to. I can build a cheap PC for around...

Modern Computer Based Recording Studio With Cubase

Hi Gecko mate, I'm using crappy Mackie active speakers at the moment, and tracking with DT770 - I really like them, they're both connected to the Zed10. Although it's not the best I can mix with the DT770's and get a decent result, those Mackie monitors are just to make noise so I can jump about...

Modern Computer Based Recording Studio With Cubase

Great help thanks Dave, the problem here is I'm more of a musician/songwriter than a audio tech. The funny thing is in real life I am an engineer, but when I'm writing music I am relaxing, I am more of an artist and want to create something different. A simple change in EQ or Reverb or whatever...

Modern Computer Based Recording Studio With Cubase

I don't want to monitor direct, I use a few effect plugins to really get me into the feel of the music.

Modern Computer Based Recording Studio With Cubase

I'm not interested in what thousands of others do, I've asked for advice in order to get what I want. EG - low latency and decent sound quality, I have never liked direct monitoring. I used to use hardware recorders, but cannot do without a computer interface, I don't think it's too difficult a...

Modern Computer Based Recording Studio With Cubase

Strange, I've found with the 11ms of the Zed 10 is really messing up me recording drums.

Modern Computer Based Recording Studio With Cubase

Yeah, I tried everything with those interfaces. The little phonic unit wasn't too bad for latency - I managed to get it down low without pops etc, but scarlett sounds great when it works, however it suddenly mutes for no reason - with a huge or small buffer size it does the same. It's impossible...
