I'm using hifi speakers (JBL TLX series), and a sony hifi amplifier. I also use my Sennheiser HD490 headphones while mixing. I've already made some recordings using Cubase SE, which has suited me well. I will post a clip soon in the mixing clinic.
As for the soundcard: I don't want to spend...
I am getting quite serious about recording now, I've got the following equipment which I use at the moment:
- MXL 990
- MXL 991
- PIII 733MHz PC with SBLive! Platinum soundcard
- Beh MIC200 tube pre (Needs replacement?)
- Sennheiser E835
- Vox AD30VT valvetronix
- Yamaha FG312 12 string guitar...
The pres in the mixers are those you want to avoid...I don't like them on my MXL990. I happen to own the MIC200 tube pre as well, which workes nice, the sound is somewhat coloured, but I like it on my voice, so until I've got money burning in my pocket I won't upgrade to an M-Audio DMP-3 (a...
I think it's a nice mic, but I'm not that reliable as the 990 is at the moment my only condenser, apart from an MXL 991, and I never had or thoroughly tested any other one. I think the pre you use makes a big difference, but I guess that's the case with most condensers. All in all I'm very...
Yeah! this actually worked! Thanks! I would never have thought about that...
I did the same thing: align the MXL logo with the 'mxl990' on the base...
Oh well, glad it's gone :)
Thanks again!
Stan.
Hi,
I was recording something and discovered a hum sound, searched for it and found it to be the MXL 990. It sounds like it's not grounded, and when I get in close to the body of the mic with my hand, the hum gets worse, and when I touch the body of the mic, there is an explosion of hum, it...
A sustain pedal isn't balanced...a volume pedal is...
And what has been said about balanced cables giving you 6db more signal is complete nonsense I think, because it's not audio, it's a single signal!! Now I haven't worked with drum triggers, so I could be wrong, but I can't see why you would...
I own a yamaha P80 digital piano, and it simply sucks if you only connect one side, because the samples are stereo, it just sounds very boxy when not connected in stereo. With my keyboards this is less of a problem, as the samples aren't so dependant on stereo. Just see if it sounds better when...
Just DI the bass into the PA, and buy a good guitar amp...I own the VOX AD30VT, which was 300 euros, bit out of your price range, but man this thing's loud! I still mic it up on stage to get a good spread throughout the stage and into the crowd...
What about micing a vox pathfinder 15R? I've...
Hi everyone,
I want to record our band, just for a demo cd. I'd like it to sound as good as possible with the gear we have (or course!).
----------------------------------
Our band consists of:
1 Lead singer (female)
1 backing vocal (male)
2 electric guitars -- 1 using V-amp, 1 using VOX...
