Are there any instruments you wish you could play but don't ?

I'd like a cello, too, although I can get by with plugins. My hands are too big for violin, although I have one. A friend had me over to do some work on their house, she'd just upgraded to a "decent" cello. She said it was almost $10,000 and asked me if I wanted to look at it. I just laughed...

    Arthritis

And don't accept as gospel what the first doctor tells you. I have a good bit of trouble with my left hand. After being laid up after two surgeries, the arthritis took over from lack of use. My surgeon told me he couldn't do anything about it, went to my rheumatologist who set me up with hand...

    Used gear for sale

Those guys must be getting really greedy, they even have low-end Harmonys, like the H-165 I pulled off the curb a few years back. It's not bad for slide, but I just don't see it in a glass case.

Advice on a decent drum machine for older music genres?

TR-505 is a deceptive little beast, the sounds aren't that great, but you can do some crazy things with the sequencer. Just work out your patterns and feed them into a modern AU or VSTi.

    CRC Electronics Cleaner

I use the QD for quick clean ups in questionable (newly acquired) gear, then follow up with Deoxit if necessary. For some reason, the local electronics jobber didn't carry Deoxit, and I had to use those tiny cans at Radio Shack.

Is this blues, or is this just s4it? my playing

You've got some good ideas, you might try swinging it a bit more. That's the beauty of multi tracking, you can try different approaches.

    H. Weissenborn Parlor Acoustic Guitar

That looks pretty nice. I've had a couple parlor guitars (not those cheesy 3/4 size Harmonys on C'list), also worked on a couple for customers. The best one I had was a Stella that I found at a flea market for $5.00...I spent about a week fixing it up, it sounded good for something that small.

    Drugs and listening to music

Deadhead Alert--an oxymoron. I usually go to concerts sober, although I have been known to sneak in a couple miniatures of whiskey. I don't want to miss anything because I'm in the restroom. Out in a bar, I don't care, their music is usually bad any way.

NGD: Seagull S6 Folk Left Handed

Sometimes there's really not much difference in structure between left and right handed guitars, I've done conversions for people and usually don't notice much of a change, especially on the cheaper models. Of course, there's always a first time. I like most of the LoSiDo guitars I've played...

    Classical (Nylon) guitar weird resonance

Classical guitars can definitely change over time, even the cheaper ones, since they're made pretty light. I used to do a lot of work on them at one of the stores I did repairs for, now I've got a no-name Japanese classical that sounds good and plays in tune--not bad for $35.00 at goodwill.

    MIDI Keyboard

I've had that keyboard for the last couple years, good for basics. Now if I can figure out a DIY way to get it to work with my iPhone 4.

How rare is the "original version" of Epiphones Les Paul Elite EB (Florentine)?

Most of that "very rare" sales pitch is just that. Online its like a snowball with a mile of hillside to roll down. Your's probably is at least rare, though. There were enough of them made that MF had some, I remember seeing them in a catalog.

What Device Do I Need to Remotely Reocord -Start-Stop

The Korg nanokontrol should work, I used mine with LE9 and GB until the usb connector broke. Next time I'll put some velcro on it. Failing that, I hear the apple remote control will work the transport controls.

How long have you been singing or playing and do you still practice ?

47 years on guitar, off and on with bass and keys, still play everyday, otherwise my hands get stiff. Finally getting things lined up for digital recording, but I've had different rigs with tape since I was 13. Doing repairs since 1980, so not much surprises me anymore, lol.

    Ever heard of a reamer?

I used a single size step drill a few years back, it worked pretty well. Especially if you can use it in a drill press so you can set a stop for depth.

Are there any instruments that don't go together well ?

I've listened to almost all the Gentle Giant albums, the only thing I noticed they didn't play was harmonica. I have a love/hate feeling about bassoon, reminds me of a sick cow back on the farm--that was always trouble.

1950s Harmony 8418 tube amp rebuild

I used to have that amp, got it for $5.00 at a flea market. It'll sound great once you get it straightened out.

    Picked this up today

I doubt anybody could get 38 watts out of a PAIR of EL84s for any length of time. All these oddball tubes were pretty common up to the late'60's--you wouldn't have believed the racks of tubes they had at the old electronic store here. They supplied the TV repair shops, so they had to stock...

Feeling Charitable Towards Folks Who Get "Creative" With Their Amp Solutions

My mom had a Zenith AM/FM radio with a mono phono input. I found an adapter and started playing guitar through it, sounded pretty good. Mom wasn't too happy, though.
