    New Mandolin Day

I actually would rather the mahogany, even if it is laminated. Not going to be playing bluegrass on it, anyway, even if I am in WV, lol.

    New Mandolin Day

I usually have the taxes pretty well worked out, but was offered a buyout on my pension from a company I worked for out of HS. As things worked out, I only ended up paying $85.00 in taxes on it, so not too bad.

    Virtual Instrument Expansions for GarageBand?

If you use an actual mac, just get MainStage for $30.00. It buys you downloads to all the GB Jam Packs and loops. If you're on an iPad, you'll just have to poke around the App Store and dig up stuff.

    New Mandolin Day

Got my tax refund last week, thought I'd try something better than the Rogue RM-100a I'd had for a couple years. Ordered a Rover RM-25s, $103.00 at Amazon. Turns out to be pretty nice, mahogany back and sides, so it's more a folk mandolin than a Bluegrass job. Of course the mandolin snobs turn...

Epiphone Special 1 P90 intonation probs

It's cheaper to try some different strings. I use D'Addario XL .009-.046 on mine and it works just fine. The stock tuners suck, but I have a set of Grovers for it when I get completely fed up with it.

Sunn Dymos and BG Custom Speaker Cab Info...

That is a very odd arrangement. I've seen a few Dymos combos, but never a head. And why would a custom builder use Sunn speakers? They're not great or anything.

Cry baby wah vs Vox wah

I use a '60's CB I got second hand in about 1973. It's had the pot changed a couple times and I converted it to TB about 20 years ago. Most of the paint is gone, but it still works like it should. I also have a Zoom GFX-707 that has a pretty good wah, sounds more like a Morley.

    Garageband 10

Some times you can find a deal on LE9. I got my copy sealed in the box from a guy on Amazon, $27.00 shipped. Then got GB X when Mavericks came out. It doesn't have all the functionality of Logic X, but the price was a lot better.

How to get these types of feedback...

Some old school fuzz pedals do that when they're switched on, it's all over The Doors live album. Some of my guitars will get controllable feedback at pretty low volume, it's just a matter of hooking up the right things.

    Cheap Sennheiser MD-421 mic mount...

That'd probably also work on my Beyerdynamic X1N. Guess there's something to be said for all the cheap audio stuff, it'll fit something else, too. LOL.

Anyone recognise this old 60's, Japanese guitar?

That bass looks like a refugee from the Monkey Wards 1970 catalog. They sure had some crap after they quit selling Valcos.

    Do you use strap locks?

AllParts makes some wide (5/8") strap buttons. I use them on ALL my guitars. If I hadn't found these, I'd still be using fender washers--even on my Epi, lol.

    Rummage Sale Find

Sometimes stuff like that trickles down to yard and rummage sales. Once I got an EP-3 Echoplex for $5.00, also a fair number of mics and oddball pedals, just because there was so MUCH of it. One of my best finds was a CryBaby I found on the curb in the student ghetto here, with the ultimate head...

    Arthritis

RE:Lyme Disease, you might check if your hospital has a records website. The local one has all the info for each time you have blood work done. It may take some digging, but if they checked for it, the reading will be there.

have audiophiles taken over home recording?

Summertime Blues seemed to be a lucky take--the flip side is what the rest of the album was like, lol. I wouldn't put much stock in a lot of YT videos, if most of those people knew what they were doing, they'd be too busy to be making videos.

Axiom 61 stopped working/Logic Pro 9 Pretty sure I hit some buttons

That sounds a little odd, I use a MAudio UNO with my Axiom because the USB out is bad (that's how I got it for $20.00). USB midi in 10.9.2 still works. Maybe your Audio/MIDI Utility isn't set up for the Axiom. I realize this isn't an issue for you, but maybe somebody else will chime in.

    Akg D330bt

I have a D-1000E I got at the flea market for $1.00. Apparently the guy thought it was broken because it rattled. I took it home and plugged it in, everything but the foam inside was fine. The foam had all crumbled, so I took it apart, cleaned it up and put some new foam on the element--been...

squier jazz bass...good enough for recording?

Squiers have gotten a lot better in the last few years. I'd get one if that's the sound you're after, since Fender's been known to pull the plug on good stuff.

    New Guitar Day

That looks sweet, I like longer scale set necks, too bad there aren't many of them. The only Swede I ever got to play was the demo guitar for a Patch 2000 guitar synth, this in a store that didn't let you use a pick to try out guitars, but the demo guy didn't care. So, I made sure to play it as...

Wanted everyones opinions on Alesis Audio Interfaces

I bought an io2 express for my laptop, found out Alesis is too cheap to write a driver for it and have to use ASIO4ALL:(. MAudio is selling a rebadged version and they have a driver for it. The unit has worked fine for a couple years, gets decent latency in CoreAudio and I parked the POS Toshiba...
