    a few more

I really like "Taken" alot. Has a nice stereo sound to it... "hearing voices through the floorboards" I smiled when I heard that. Cool line.

I agree with crawdad. Having a place on the bbs would be cool but this particular forum should be left as is...to discuss mixes.

new to forum; new to playing songs by myself

Hi...first things first... In terms of whether or not someone will listen to your songs the best advice you can be given is this...Write them for yourself first. You'll find, more times than not, that songs which catch your own attention are liekly to catch someone else's as well. Post 'em in...

    All ye critics come forth...

hey all... I reworked the vocals on this one, thought they sounded a bit muddy. Still kind of concerned with the guitar sound though.

There's something in me that says that song needs to be on a movie soundtrack. Just has that feel to it. Nice guitar sound too...

    All ye critics come forth...

The acoustic was recorded in my very minimalist/budget studio setting: The guitar(Alvarez Fusion series)into a Stone acoustic amp, and then sent to the sound card and recorded into Cakewalk's Guitar Tracks...like I said, budget studio.

Will Ya Give My Song A Critical Listen?

I like the vocals in this song. Oh, and I'm like you when it comes to bass except I go one step further and actually call it really bad names when my kids aren't around. I HATE playing the bass...

    All ye critics come forth...

I have a little acoustic peice I hope all of you can give a listen to. There are no drums except for a little kick bass to keep the rythym. No bass either. Just guitars and vocals(and an occasional tamborine). As always, any and all input is appreciated... It's called "The Wind"...

    Guitar Stereo Field

I agree with double tracking the guitar, and that's exactly what I've done, panning each to the left and right, respectively.

    Hi from the new guy...

I guess you could call it a drum machine...it's the drop n' drag drummer from Cakewalk's guitar tracks...

    Cotton Candy

This song has a really nice feel to it. Ditto on what everyone else has said about capturing a mood. Here it is a cold night in February and there I was under my headphones strolling through the tilt-a-whirl with midway balloons floating all around and the smell of...okay, you get the picture...

    Another Demo

Well, if everyone is avoiding your posts I'll make it a point to drop in whenever you post a new song. Not a bad tune...I agree with Toki on most of what was said. The guitar seems to overpower the vox and even the drums to the point where they drop out. It's a strong performance. I think...

    Your expertise is sought . . .

There's something in the drums that seems to bring this whole song forward. Very cool...song has a good vibe to it.

What CDs do you consider great mixes for reference?

Rush- Moving Pictures Dream Theater- Images and Words Great mixes, greats sounds on both these albums.

    Hi from the new guy...

Again, my thanx to everyone for the input. The vox on this song(and mine in general I suppose)are somewhat of a thorn in my side. I don't have a particularly strong voice, usually just enough control to keep someone from getting up and banging the gong(some older members will recognize the...

    Song For Jessie

Wow... As I listened to this my 4-year old daughter walked past and I couldn't help but reach out, snatch her off her feet and give her a big hug. All lyrical critiquing aside, this is a wonderful piece of music.
