It depends. That 2010 is a hand-held style mic, but most condensers need a shock mount of some kind. They're usually included.

Bail on the old technology--you'll quickly find that it's obsolete for a reason. No meanness is meant here. It's just one limitation after another in that realm, and if you're even half-serious about your music, you owe it to yourself to do it.

Might be time to try a different mic. You can get some really decent condensers for not much more than that 57. Like the CAD M179. It will likely solve your gain problems, but condensers are sensitive, so be ready for that.

I use an old Line 6 Podxt to record, but am thinking about upgrading to their rack model, the most recent one. I rarely play out, but have used the Pod when I have, through an amp.
