    Mackie board signal issue

It looks like there are some switches on the meter bridge's right side. What do they do?

    Shure Sm7b Problems

I agree the OP needs to learn how to use what he already has. I'm fully aware that any interface with a mic input has a built-in mic preamp. Your statement, "a preamp isn't needed," is what I was responding to. Had I seen the term, "outboard," I would not have entered this discussion...

    Shure Sm7b Problems

You 1st state a preamp isn't needed but now you say it is. The only mics that don't need preamps are line level units which as far as I know, aren't made anymore.

Tascam m-520 aux monitor with HA8000

Where are your input trims? Have you tried connecting the aux outs to a something other than the Behringer? Does the Behringer have an input sensitivity switch?

Tascam m-520 aux monitor with HA8000

I see 4 stereo aux outs on the back of that 520. A quick look at an online manual shows master faders for them. Have you read the manual?

Are you saying there are no aux masters on your board?

Tascam m-520 aux monitor with HA8000

I'm assuming the 520 has both input trim and aux master out controls. Initial individual input pre fader gain to the aux rail is dependent on where the input trim is set. Final output gain for everything sent to a given aux bus will depend on that aux master's out setting.

    MSR-16 Erase Issue

In the world of analog tape machines, test tapes are essential, as are signal generators, and o'scopes. You are flying totally blind without them.

    MSR-16 Erase Issue

If the guides & reel table heights are properly set and the only problem is with the erase head, then I'd be looking at that head being too far back. Even if there is no adjustment per se, there could be some wear at the mounting point. Just out of curiosity, is this problem repeatable with a...

    MSR-16 Erase Issue

Do you have the service manual? Is there any way to move the supply guide back? Perhaps it's too far forward and not allowing proper contacted with the headstack.

    MSR-16 Erase Issue

If the tape is hitting the top of the guide, that guide is too low. There has to be a way to raise it so the tape is running evenly through it.

    MSR-16 Erase Issue

You mentioned that when you applied pressure with your finger that it erased ok across the entire tape so it isn't the head. Is there a center guide misaligned or worn guide somewhere in the path?
