    Starbucks and PBJ before singing

I can't believe we're even discussing PBJ... I'm canadian so I'd probably stop at Tim Hortons twice on the way to a local show, coffee has never been a problem for me though they say caffeine is bad for the voice. But if I was feeling like I was coming down with something and thought I could use...

    703 Rigid for ceiling tiles!

Yes I did get the OFI-48 without the foil and covered it with cloth. I love it and I'm goin to get some more to tame some wall to wall reflections in the room.

cheap home analog effects recording question

Hey pharroh, if you like what your doing and you don't want to mess with your work flow... get a Yamaha MD8. You should be able to find one cheap, it's digital, it's noisless and most important of all it works like an old portastudio. these things have been out dated by all kinds of little...

    fatten the live drums

I just checked out that old board, it's a soundcraft rac pac. I'm looking for something I can run the kit through with dir out post eq. This board is post eq and fader(?) the only thing I don't like is it's missing P-EQ on the mids and the LF is at 40hz ( a little low don't you think?) anyway...

    fatten the live drums

I seen an old soundcraft rack mounted board at the local shop maybe I'll see if I can borrow it and put it to the test.

    fatten the live drums

yeah I used either a at2020 or my zoom h4 recorder, the drummer in question is heavy on the cymbals so I can't keep as much of the snare and toms as I'd like to. I'm thinking i need to run through board to give her some analog grunt and I'd like to get the Dir mics sounding good before I press...

    fatten the live drums

I'm using a Digi002 rack and I want to richen the live drums, give them that old analog tone while track and spend less time mousing around while mixing. Any advice? I was thinking of using a mix wizard and eq pre A/D, but now I'm thinking it might be too clean.

    Free rtas spectrum analyzer?

Me too, you beat me to the punch. Also I'm looking for a PI that will show me what my mix looks like freq wise, I know Peak has a cool one but I'm not sure what I'm actually asking for.

    Guitar panning in the mix.

If you haven't guessed I'm looking for theories on mixing guitars. I'm doin my first PT project and I'm double tracking the guitars. Two tracks per take two takes. Left and right. I find if I pan one of the takes 50L and 21R and the other 50R and 21L they overlap sonic space and not leave holes...

    Nobody using minidisc I see

I've used a MD8 forever replaced it in the jam room with a zoom H4 and a pro tools rig in the studio. Might be time to let it go.

    mic to tame that piccolo

I'm recording my band soon and tryin to get the drums mics together. This is for heavy heavy rock. I'm tryin to fatten up the snare and tame the high pitch. I think m421's might be too bulky to get in there I was thinkin of trying a e906. I'm trying to make this work without breakin the bank...

    Vocal effects on live performances?

I use an old yamaha spx90 into a DI for effects and a midi pedal board to switch it up. You could use this setup with anything and just change your patches right on the stage as long as your not playin guitar and changin between verse and choruses.

    Loudness Look Here

I agree, there's way too much over compressed bs out there. To support the punk and death crowd, they write their music to be heavy, fast and abrasive. But it's hard competition when every pop song out there is twice as loud and way over compressed. I miss the good old days of dynamics. I keep a...

    Best Lightpipe Pre's?

I guess I narrowed it down to the Digimax I just have to decide between FS or LT. They both seem to do what I want I'll just have to look at the specs and see what the difference is. Other than that I like the fact that the LT has all the I/O on the back.

    Best Lightpipe Pre's?

Anyone know what the SM Pro Audio PR8MKII goes for with the ADAT card? I've never seen this rack before. I like the idea of having an insert on each track. Sweet. I keep thinking the Octane probably the best bet for tracking drums since it has all the little tricks on different channels I...

    Best Lightpipe Pre's?

I'm recently considering the m-audio lightbridge and I'm wondering what's out there for the best value in 8ch mic pre's with adat out.
