I think any DAW has a fairly steep learning curve. Cubase looks complicated because it can do lots of things. Most of the editing functions are on the tool bar, things like scissors, gluing etc. The EQ and inserts(FX, compression etc..) can be accessed on each track by hitting the little "e"...

Bass boost? There's an EQ. There are tons of editing options. What is it you want to do?

I each instrument track using the same instrument? If so you may be able to add an instrument under devices and route MIDI tracks to that instrument. That way you only have one instance of the instrument. Some may not work this way but I know ones like Halion Sonic will.

You need to have monitoring on the track your recording. I usually monitor to set levels and then turn it off to record.

Are your tempos matching exactly? I've done that too and say I've got cubase and my keys set at 120, yet the keys end up being something like 119.877 so by the end of the song it's all outta whack.

Try checking off that Always send start message. IIRC the sequencer will start when you hit play/record in Cubase. There may be a setting in the sequencer that needs to be set to recieve this message. Again, I can't check right now but I will if you're still having problems. It might have to...

On each track you can click on the little "e" and open a window that has the inserts as well as a eq. You can use a "Low Shelf" eq and eliminate anything up to a certain frequency. Same for the highs. Using an EQ is a bit of an art form, so expect a learning curve.

How many tracks, VSTi's etc. Anytime I've had problems I'd see spikes, I'd be running at say 20% and then blam, it would spike to 100 and I'd get poppin'. I think it was something else, like my wireless or some other process kicking in.

You just hook up the out of one to the in/THRU of the other and the last out plugs into the interface. You should be able to configure each device to send on one of the 16 MIDI channels. Then whatever your triggering needs to be confiqured to receive on said channels. Have a read. I learned a...

Could it be interference from something?

You can use a keyboard for drums but i don't think that one has velocity. So AFAIK all the notes will be at the same level and it won't sound realistic. You can always go in and edit the velocities later but that's a lot of velocity tweaking.

I don't see any duct tape in any of the photos. I'm a little disappointed. Mind you, the keyboard/mouse support is clearly a marvel of modern engineering. I have to give you full props on that.

You're asking a lot for $200.00. Hell, that's what the cables will for 8 ins.

I'm sure LE comes with at least some virtual instruments.
