    industry standard mics?

I fall something in between. I picked industry standards though. In terms of live sound it will be easier for whoever is running the soundboard I imagine. I used to be very mic snobbish. I liked the Beta 58,and SM58, but ditched those for vocal work as soon as I got a N/D267...wish I never sold...

How did you learn to sing?

More or less taught myself. I just jammed out to whatever I happened to like. Didn't think much of myself until about 17 or 18. Took a bit of work before I realized that I could hit a decent range with a lot of volume. It actually took a friend at the time to say that they could have used me in...

    Home Recording's Dirty Little Secret

Well, I figured I would vote. I am a n00b generally to actually recording with a "home studio." I've done some crummy live recordings on tape, through a boombox with a integral mic on it. Sounded garage of course, but it certainly could have sounded worse. I listen to a lot of old punk rock...

    Tips for Dynamic Vocals?

Lol. Yeah yeah...mic stand:D I have one...somewhere. Dunno where though. It got gobbled by my folks' garage when I moved out, the first time. :laughings: Now, I am a fan of the old round based straight stand. However I do understand a boom might be useful for other reasons. Last I recall, they...

    Tips for Dynamic Vocals?

Hey all. I am searching for tips on how to get better sounds out of using a dynamic mic for home studio vocals. My current mic is a EV Co9. I am going to try to recall a mic that I loaned out to a friend (Samson Co1 condenser), but for the moment I am considering the fact that all I will have...

Good a place as any for a first post. :P

Oh, I found my old model preamp...apparently it has been discontinued, but Musician's Friend still has an info page up on it. http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/Bellari-MP105-Tube-Mic-Preamp?sku=180720 Just in case there are any gear junkies reading this thread. :)

Good a place as any for a first post. :P

"I'd say, bear in mind that different mics give your voice a different lilt." -This is why I like the EV mics. Lol. The Beta 58 and SM58 definitely weren't bad though. For the money, an SM58 is still generally a hard one to beat. I used to have enough mics to more or less set up a 4 piece group...

Ooops... yeah... here is the model I have on order. http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/ART-USB-Dual-Pre-TwoChannel-PreamplifierComputer-Interface?sku=703092 I've been tinkering with stuff off and on for some time with friends (in musical terms), but it has been several years since...

Good a place as any for a first post. :P

Hey all. I've lurked around on here for a few days; did some thread searches etc. General reading and what not. So, a friend and I have started talking about actually forming a musical project together. We had worked together in the past, and those efforts splintered for a number of different...
