Starting to piece it together. Lol.

Warwick... last time I noodled on a Warwick it was one of the fret-less necks, natural finished body, and I could swear its pickups were active. It was like an $800 one at GC. Nice though. I'm slowly working at piecing together this project studio, as best I can when and where I can. I'm not...

Starting to piece it together. Lol.

So, I am pretty excited. I bought some gear from Jim Lad... AKG Perception 200, and the M-Audio Keyrig he had posted here. Plus I jumped my happy ass onto MF and ordered a metal pop filter to place in front of the condensers when in use. I snagged a set of Audio Technica cans while I was at it...

    PC or Mac for recording?

Interesting thread. I personally use a Mac, but that is because that is the computer I run for everything except mobile... for that I use an older Asus EeePc (jumped on the netbook thing early...4Gb SDD lol). I would use any platform for home recording, and have thought about buying a cheap...

    19. Unemployed. Musician. About to be homeless. University dropout. Unfinished album

I can understand how hard it is to find a job with a college schedule. In this economy, a lot of employers see a restriction on your time and just sort of go "ah....nope!" and throw your app in the trash, and they don't seem to be looking at much else. At least in my own case. I run a full time...

What course is it that you are taking that is causing you so much trouble?

'70s Analog "studio," felt like bragging....

Sweet! It might be "old school" but at least your gear is real! Love the look of those synthesizers. That console is rather neat too...

    Vintage Microphone Repair Services

"He stated in one of his emails "I don't have to prove anything to you."" -YES he does. You sent him an item in good faith that at it would be repaired, and sent payment for those repairs. That becomes a contractual affair at this point. He is legally obligated to fill his end of the deal...

Any Opinon on Blue enCore Series?

Already got it bookmarked. :D I imagine the transformer would beef most mics if added? Though I imagine it will not beef all mics in the same fashion... as they tend to be temperamental creatures. Lol.

Can any one identifythis vintage mic?

Have you given it a good wringing out in terms of testing the sound? I would say looks like Ev as well, but it seems that is not the case. I haven't seen a great many older mics, so I have been watching this thread a little, as inquiring minds want to know! Lol.

Any Opinon on Blue enCore Series?

The Spark DOES interest me as well... however, information is limited apparently on that piece of work. Brand equity is not always enough for me to run off of, though it does work for a lot of other folks. :D Great... a transformer for dynamics? How does that alter sound? I know you can beef...

Any Opinon on Blue enCore Series?

Lol. Maybe sometime next week or so. Got my hands full for a little bit. I can tolerate my Co9 quite fine for a bit, and not in a rush. Ha ha ha! I just like trying to come to a decision, and one I can stick to before I throw money down on anything. Don't get me wrong, I would love to get a hot...

    Recording in 90's

"It's kinda funny how things have gone full circle...in a way. Back when they started using that designation, DDD was the rare exception, and often the coveted one. Now, the idea of tracking and mixing on some old analog big iron before moving over to digital (AAD) is often the coveted setup...

Any Opinon on Blue enCore Series?

About 15 miles or so, on the heavy end. Though the discussion we had about the Ev 767 makes a very tempting argument. Slight roll off to avoid being overly boomy or muddy... a good thing for someone who likes to sing in lower registers, and being close on the mic... but that is also a good plus...

Any Opinon on Blue enCore Series?

I was thinking of getting the enCore 100. This could be a live mic, but is more likely to end up doing duty as a home studio piece. The handling noise on this model is very noticeable from what tests I have seen of it. In fact, the handling noise is more or less it's biggest drawback from what I...

Any Opinon on Blue enCore Series?

Title more says it. I have an easier time (surprisingly) getting better sounds out of dynamics than cheap condensers. I also would say a higher quality dynamic will spank a lesser quality condenser. So, I am trying to get opinions and experiences with the Blue line of dynamic mics. Read they...

    Monitors or Cans?

This being said, I probably will end up using a mix of both cans and monitors. Both have reasons why they would be good tools, and at different phases. Cans I will end up having anyway, since I listen to a lot of music on my computer, and play a couple games on it... which would cut down on the...

    Monitors or Cans?

"Also worth thinking about how most people will experience your music, through an iPod or something most likely." -This was the train of thought that started my whole internal debate, that I then externalized via this thread. :D

    Do Lyrics Matter?

I believe lyrics matter a lot to a singer. If you don't tap into emotion when singing, then it's just technical, there is no feeling there. A lack of feeling = boring. As a singer, if I am not able to get emotionally amped up, the performance is going to suffer.
