Are you using an external firewire drive is so, which type (400, 800... brand, etc) and (if so) which FW port are you connecting it to?

    Beat Detective

This is an older article (2003) from SOS, so you should be able to get it without a subscription, hopefully it will help out. http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/aug03/articles/protoolsnotes.htm

    full band live recording-which interface?

Another aspect to consider if you do get gear that is capable of that many live channels (I think 3 octane pre's through a pro fire lightbridge may achieve this) is the your computer's I/O capability. That's a lot of data being written and you will need a fairly big pipe.

    Pro Tools LE VS M-Powered

When it comes to audio they are functionally the same. Both use the same plug-ins, both can be upgraded with the Music Production Toolkit, etc. M-Powered does not do video, at least not well... only quicktime I believe. So if you're going to do video, then LE is your choice. IMHO M-Powered's...

    M-Audio Project Mix I/O.

Just a follow-up on the Black Lion mod for the projectMix I/O.... holy $h|t! Is this my rig? Massively improved headroom, like night and day from the original unit. External micro-clock is a bonus, not an overwhelming difference (or maybe I'm still knocked over in general), but (IMHO) smoother...

    M-Audio Project Mix I/O.

I've had one for almost 2 years and am happy with it, with a couple of qualifications. First the pre's are acceptable, but just. I actually have my projectMix I/O scheduled for an upgrade at Black Lion Audio. (Sorry I haven't posted 5 times here so I couldn't put the link in). Secondly, the...

    EZDrummer setup in PT M-Powered

Ok, depends on what EZD kit you are using, so I'll stick to the rock kit. It has 8 output channels. Go in to the EZD mixer and select the output field of any track, you'll see the option for multiple outputs, select multi. You'll see that the output changed on the bottom of the mixer. Create 7...
