Pro Tools 8... What the Fuck?

Another thing that I found made a noticeable difference with the iMAC was disabling the Airport interface (just right click and turn it off) if you don't need network access while using PT. As for the bluetooth, I'm using a bluetooth keyboard and mouse without issues. Yeah I figure I could...

Pro Tools 8... What the Fuck?

I turned time machine off when I'm running PT... I found it chewed up a ton of cycles, especially on a USB drive and record to a FW attached drive (digi defnitely does not recommend writing to the internal drive)

Pro Tools 8... What the Fuck?

Yes, conceptually it makes total sense. If you don't allow PT to chew up both processors then that leaves one for non-PT processing (which plug-ins are). I was only saying that there could be other resources competing for CPU cycles and took take a look at that.

Pro Tools 8... What the Fuck?

I have an aluminum iMac with 4GB of RAM and run ozone 3 and 4 and a bunch of other plug-ins (which I know you really shouldn't do) and have never gone through what you have, both processors are configured in PT8. I have to think it's the way it's configured. What else are you running in the...

    Troubleshooting. opinions?

Do you get a dump file when PT crashes? Which thread is actually crashing? Have you gone through the trashing of the preferences and trying again?

    Protools and external storage problems...

Unfortunately not, although there has been a lot of discussion of the issue at DUC there is not (as of yet) a setup option to disable the automatic creation of the digidatabase folder. And yes, it can be annoying.

Can I use any interface with PT Mpowered 8?

"A qualified M-Audio hardware interface is required to use Pro Tools M-Powered software" From the compatability page.

Anyone using Pt Le 8 yet?

Correct, it does however come as part of the Music Production Toolkit (2)... along with Smack, Xpand!(2), Hybrid and some other goodies. I use it sparingly, like when no other 'verb will do as I find with most convultion reverbs, it's hard on the CPU.

Clicks and noises suddenly appeared in PT session

This isn't the demo of amplitude is it? After the 10 day trial apparently it becomes quite noisy and unusable.

    Protools problems... playback/recording.

Although USB 2.0 has faster theoretical specs than FireWire, it falls short in sustained throughput required for audio/video processing. Read and write tests to the same IDE hard drive connected using FireWire and then Hi-Speed USB 2.0 show: Read Test: 5000 files (300 MB total) FireWire...

    using a mixer with MBOX2/Pt?

Monster Man... how ya doin' bud? I'm assuming you're using the Hammer moreSpace external hard drive, from what I can tell from specs, it's just not going to cut for you. Maximum bus rate is typical USB drive vendor fluff... 480mbps, if that was what you were getting, you wouldn't be having...

How does an external drive work with Pro Tools LE?

I have an early 2007 intel core duo 2 iMac 24" and although I'm using a ProjectMix I/O interface I still managed to utilize both FW ports on the iMac. The projectMix I/O is plugged in via 9 to 6 pin FW cable to the FW800 port and the external drive is plugged into the FW400. This type of...

Old problem fixed, two new questions Projectmix I/O

If this is happening when you record a mono track; Bring up the the firewire interface for the project mix I/O, on the mixer panel, check to see if the "out" setting for the channel you are recording to is set to 1/2 or 3/4. If this is the case, make sure the pan for that channel is up the centre.

Latency with m-powered and projectmix I/O

Bring up the firewire interface and set the channel that you are recording through (on the PM I/O) to output directly to the main (1/2 or 3/4 whatever one you are using). In Pro Tools pull the fader on the track you are recording to down to nothing or really low to the point that when you are...

will this comp be good for pro tools

I run PT 7.4 on an early 2007, 2.33Ghz iMac (3 GB RAM) and am totally happy with it. Definitely get an external FW drive and I would recommend additional memory, I picked up after market memory for a fraction of the cost of apple gear.

Use on more than one computer

Yes, it was M-Powered I was thinking of when I wrote my initially reply.... making the assumption (wrongly I guess) that you would be using some sort of interface for both systems and were concerned about having to move the host around (again assuming hardware=host).... Anyway if you are just...

Use on more than one computer

That's the idea behind iLok enabled authorization. You can have the same software installed on a number of computers, but it will only run on the system with the USB dongle plugged in. So you can't actually use one pro tools license on two systems simultaneously. As well, you'll have to...
