    Guitar Microphones

There's not a lot that can be done with the interface. Frankly, there isn't any easy way to get things organized. There's lots of questions, and no easy place to put them besides putting them in the broad categories they are located in. The table of contents is in an outline format, and I don't...

    Samson C03??

Where do you keep coming across this microphone? Samson's web site sucks - for example, no frequeny charts. Though charts are commonly ignored by pros because of a lack of standardization among manufacturers, they are at the very least a sign that a company is TRYING to maintain a...

Studio fright night thanks to the local PD

That is bizarre. I'm not blaming you or anything, it just seems so darn odd that your local cops would do this! You're right, there isn't any logic, which is what makes it so hard for me to believe that they'd just march in there. Maybe you could bring something like this in front of a town...

Studio fright night thanks to the local PD

If anything, you at least deserve an answer as to why the cops figured you were robbing/dealing crack/running a whore house/whatever. Go down to the PD and ask what the fuck was going on. Unfortunately, I don't think there's a lot you can get besides an apology. I just don't see what their...

    Let's sticky the FAQ...together!

Thank you very much ozraves and bknot1! I like to think of the FAQ a 'supplement' to the BBS rather than its own entity. The primary audience is going to be people (especially newbies) from the BBS, because that's where people are going to find out about it. I don't think it would be fair to...

    Let's sticky the FAQ...together!

Mark7's mics are up - take a look at the beyers in the 'Mic Specifics'. Thanks a lot, Mark! Unfortunately, it seems my drive to make the FAQ a 'sticky' is futile, as Recording Engineer hasn't made any comments. I don't know if he's still around or not...:( I wonder if slackmaster could do it...

    Anyone Here Know

You could avoid most of those problems by not eating/touching hot solder.:D Seriously though, if you learn in a well ventilated area, get someone experienced to help you learn, and practice on unimportant electronics/practice kits before moving on to the real stuff, soldering is the way to go.

    Let's sticky the FAQ...together!

Hey everyone! Looking good so far...and thanks for taking a look! crazydoc, I'll put up something on phantom power, but it won't be great - I can research, but I don't personally know too much on its effect on different mics - only the answer to the common newb question: WILL PHANTOM POWER...

OK folks, it's time to show your cards! Time to show your support (or lack thereof) in a push to make the FAQ a sticky. Before you vote, make sure to take a look, so you're satisfied: http://www.hr-faq.org It's not totally finished, but...it's pretty nice. Read away. C'mon Recording...

Oh, and Dethska - I agree, pro preamps will be important sooner or later. I just felt that entry preamps were the priority. Sorry for the misunderstanding. And sorry for three posts in a row! -Graham
