In regards to the MPA...is it possible to use as a "clean" pre too? I know everyone who owns it loves the color it adds, but is it possible to run more transparent or would one who is interested in an MPA (read: me) be well served to find another pre to handle those types of needs as well...

You might have to change your bit depth to burn to a cd...I don't know for sure without looking at your render settings myself. CD quality is 16 bit

When you have the vocal track you need, in the file menu choose the "render" option. (it might be labeled "render file" or something of the sort, I'm not at my DAW so I can't say for certain.) It will output as whatever you tell it to on the render options dialog. (wav, mp3, ogg, or whatever...

I have one of the Vox AD amps...and I think it sounds much better than a SS amp. Seems pretty reactive to me, but I've never owned an all tube amp, so I have nothing to compare it to.

Mackie question... As far as the Onyx mixers go. If you buy the firewire card, can it output everything to a separate channel in a DAW, or are you stuck with your stereo or submix?
