Actually....
I believe the original DMT8 will record 4 tracks at once...
Correct me if I am wrong.
The Dmt8vl will record 2 tracks analog and 2 tracks digitally at once=4.
Dom :)
The Alesis CD Twin CD duplicator ROCKS!
It makes perfect copies in just a couple of minutes (No computer required) and no glitches even with the cheapest CD's.
I just made about a hundred copies of my latest Christmas Album and it was so fast and very Cool looking!
It allows you to use...
yes you can purchase the rails pre-drilled and tapped
I buy the rails at Guitar center and build custom sized cabinets to fit under the desk or workstation.
You can make the sides out of plywood, pine or nice oak or maple hardwood. anything will work, it just matters how nice you want it to...
Use a Di box and run XLR mik cables
You will hear a noticable hum with guitar cables especially when an amp is really cranked up or when using a guitar with single coil (Non-humbucking) pickups.
DOM
The TSR8 is a great sounding machine!
The only trouble I had with mine was the track arming buttons. I guess I am a little heavy handed when I punch in and out.... Be gentle they can break
Sincerely
DOM FRANCO ;)
I'm confused....
 Why would anyone want some gigantic sub-woofers in a studio, when no one else in the world will be able to duplicate the sound that you get there, if they play the recording back on their own system?

An insert will send the entire signal out-thru and back..
An AUX out will send it out and then you will have to patch the output of the effect back in to another channel or return line. So in this way you can have the clean sound unaffected and bring up the volume of the return to mix in just...
okay.....
Use 1x2" 8ft long and assemble into a light weight frame. You can use drywall screws to put them together, but drill pilot holes so you wont split the wood.
Then cover the wood frame with any paneling you want... Most paneling comes in 4X8 sheets so everything will line up at a...
If you want it portable, then it will not be completely sound proof.
But it may give you enough separation to track vocals as long as it is not right next to a drum set or loud amplifier.
An easy way to do it would be 1X2" frames with 1/4" plywood skins and hinged together. Then fill the...
The Dmt8vl will split the hard drive capacity between programs So:
If you want to maintain programs of equal time length, or clear them all you can.
To erase all, arm all 8 tracks and press record. Allow the machine to run for 5 minutes or longer and then there will be a blank program of...
This post was supposed to be about 'Mixing desk position"?
Lets get back on topic and help our brother with his monitoring questions...
Thanks DOM
Near field monitors are the key!
As an old timer (working in studios since 1971) I have seen and heard a lot of play back systems... Some amazing and incredibly expensive built in wall speakers etc. But they all have one thing in common... a set of smaller nearfield monitors to listen to and...
That's a lot of questions!
1. No ethernet card
2. No
3. Analog board
4. I meter from the Front face panel of the Fostex
5. Yes a Phillips
6. I have many outboard units, I use Pre amps into the recorder
7. Yes there are all those extra alternate tracks, but you can only hear 24 back at one time...
A good condition DMT8VL with 2 Gig or larger HD
Should be worth at least $300.00. But you may find one even cheaper... BUY IT! You won't be sorry. Two or more of them will link up together to give you 16 or 24 tracks on a budget! I sold my pair of them and traded up to a fostex D2424Lv, but...
I would agree with FitZ2
My live room is about 12 X 14 and I wish I had left it bigger. I can get a 4 piece group in there if I have to, (Bass, Drums, Guitar and Kbd) but it gets really crowded.
I could have saved room elsewhere. The Drum room is 7 X 12 apx. Control room 8 X 12 apx. Isolation...
HMMM 10 Grand?
While $10,000.00 is a large chunk of change, especially to a simple guy like me, You could easily spend that much on just a few good microphones and pre-amps!
But back to reality...
I would buy several Shure Dynamics and a couple of good medium cost condensor mics.($2,000)...
I finally figured out how to attach a few pictures of my home studio.
In the wee wee hours of the morning, when I cant sleep, I stumble down the stairs to my "Happy Place" and before I know it, I've spent 2 hours recording a little guitar overdub, and now I am really ready for a few more hours...
Two 24" doors?
Two smaller doors Hinged so that they meet in the middle, and attach a 1X3 board on one door to overlap the joint. Seal them up with weather stripping and you have a cheap soloution with little work.
