Anyone here obsessed with writing Beatles-quality songs?

"You Know My Name (Look Up The Number), issued as the b-side of "Let It Be", is my favourite 'lesser known' Beatles song. Would have been a Number 1 for The Stones if they'd have done it!

I believe Lennon said the last line was put in simply because it rhymed!

Anyone here obsessed with writing Beatles-quality songs?

It's actually Blackburn, which is about 30 miles outside Liverpool. John Lennon had read a newspaper article in the Daily Mail stating that Blackburn council had estimated that there were 4000 pot holes in the roads of that town.

I've just realised that it's a total waste of time. Write song, record song, put song out. End of story.

Forget the wardrobe, I was just joking! I'm getting confused with this Rockwool stuff again:confused: My window is 60" x 39". If I made a plug for it (which if successful would be 75% of my problem solved, imo) wouldnt that plug consist of say, 2 sheets of mdf seperated by the batts of 100mm...

    Rockwool

Erm, no. I live in Liverpool not Bevery Hills 90210!:( Would it be worth using Rockwool RWA45 or RW3 on the door and window instead of having the white elephant of a iso booth?

    Rockwool

Ha ha, I meant single glazed window! Door is light & hollow. (Just realised I live in a hovel!) Might try the wardrobe, worked for The Cure and Genesis.

    Rockwool

It's a spare room at my terrace home. Uncovered floorboards, pretty solid stud wall to the north & east, brick wall to south & west. Unglazed window at south. Ordinary door to east. The whole place is a weak link! I need the isolation purely for vocal work. All my other musical instrumentation...

    Rockwool

Well I could, as the room i'm in is about 14ft x 14 ft, but I really don't want to go any bigger than the 4ft x 4ft 'Tardis' I am thinking of doing. Really, all I want is a place where I can go and do my vocals unhibited (and without partner/neighbours thinking I am having a fit:() Floor and...

    Rockwool

I am looking at 120cm (approx 4ft) wide x 120cm (4ft) length x 240cm (8ft) high. I intend to build a frame consisting of 50mm x 50mm (2" x 2") battens/joists, screwing plywood boards to the outside of the frame and fixing the Rockwool RWA45 slabs to the inside. Front section to be hinged to act...

    Rockwool

Thanks Jeff. I know there have been quite a few threads on this, but I really need somewhere I can record my vocals without disturbing the neighbours/my partner! It may well end up sounding terrible but that's better than not sounding at all! You see, apart from acoustic guitar, I play...

Anyone here obsessed with writing Beatles-quality songs?

I listen to The Beatles sometimes and even though I am one of their biggest ever fans, I still take my headphones off, shake my head and say "Fucking Hell!" Any musician who says they don't like The Beatles is a fake, in my opinion.

(I Think It's Time) I Put My Guns Back In Their Holster

Ok guys & gals. I have had a lot of basic help on this forum (and I really do mean basic!). I have put this song up on myspace for your listening pleasure. I play it all myself and I am VERY limited in my musical and technical skills. Hope you like it. http://www.myspace.com/farawayjones
