DeComposer from www.replayinc.com claims to be able to do it. It's a sophisticated filtering program where you have to specify the frequencies you want to eliminate. It's far from perfect. Unless things are digital and on utterly separated tracks, eliminating the music will cut out some...

What Iuse is affordable downloadable programs such as Wave Clean (you can find it on C/Net Downloads). It does a good job for me of eliminating that subtle background scuzz that sneaks in. There are other programs that do the same thing; check the downloads at Shareware, Sonic Spot, Harmony...

What I want is the kind of mike I see rock bands using on stage: unidirectional with a short pick up, and the singer is able to work right up against it, lips touching it, without popping plosive sounds. What mike is that?
