I understand that there is some difference in quality between various VSTis.
Where do you get really good quality ones, and how much are they? I only need about 10, but I want good quality, orchestral instrument VSTis.
Thank you.
I think that post 13 is a good summary, with the exception of the last sentence. [If I thought that I could do a "studio" song which would sell 6 million units, but which I could not replicate live without the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra on stage with me, I'd do it.] Yes, each song has its...
I had just made up my mind to buy a PCI card, when I read [for the 117th time] that they can be noisy:
"""A 24 bit 96 khz converter mounted on a PCI card inside the computer will pick up a phenomenal amount of radiation (read: noise), as much (if not more) than 16 bit 44.1 khz converters...
To refer to ancient history: Sir George Martin said that any Beatles album up to Sgt. Pepper could have been produced by any competent producer, given the Beatles talent. On Sgt. Pepper though, Martin took charge, more or less, put his music degree and orchestral experience to work, and...

I'm thinking primarily of string and horn [oboe, French horn] orchestral...
The URL in #4 shows comparisons for today's competitive processors. Right now, Core Duo is the best, in performance and in value. AMD has been ahead for a couple of years, and it's hard to say who will be ahead by next summer. The difference between the best AMD and the best Intel isn't night...
Thanks. As for your conclusion, a lot of people say that, so for all their similarities, they must have significant differences in how they do things. It must not be like MS Office vs. Wordperfect.
From reading, it seems to me that the two are pretty close, and that if one has an edge, it is that Cubase seems to have slightly fewer problems in its functions, while Sonar has some features which people find slightly more attractive. [I say slightly. I don't mean to infer than Sonar has 50...
