Oh my god, that is wrong on SO many levels... that's about as useful as using a spectrum analyzer to "read" your monitor's response and use an EQ to "flatten" it.... (it won't work!)
Using EQ to "fix" room frequency response anomalies will do much more harm than good, by introducing all sorts...
Hey MQQ... I got ya ta buy an RNC, now I'm trying to get ya ta buy a Lexi!!! ;)
I know all about the Behringer - if you saw the equipment list on my site, it's in there too. I use it from time to time on snares for a gritty sound - which it seems to work on! The one time I ran a vocal track...
Well, for one thing...
... most acoustic guitars are mic'd with small-diaphragm condensers, not large - that MAY be part of your "missing link".

Well.... if you can get past the laughter of any knowledgeable musicians or engineers at your studio while you're setting up for a session and they see you pull out the RS mics!

The Lexicon MPX-500 absolutely blows away the M*One. I A/B'd those units extensively about 8 months ago - and they are at about the same price point (well, ok, the Lexi is a bit more, but it's worth it...)

Well, the levels off the board are what they are designed to handle, but you still need to be careful. Keep the levels lower than normal.
In my facility, I'll use the monitors at a low to moderate volume to make sonic decisions during the tracking, but then switch to low-grade monitors if the...
Hey guys...
I was only semi-serious.... I have no experience with Beringer's outboard pres to make any kind of judgment, although I'm un-inclined to get anything from them based on some of the crap I DID see!
But if it works... that's all that counts!!

1 & 2) ...possible, but be careful - nearfield monitors are not "cabs" and they can't take abuse. And "abuse" constitutes running raw instrument signals into them at even moderate listening levels. They just aren't meant to handle the dynamic peaks a guitar or especially bass's raw signals are...
In addition to balanced connections on the XT20, there's better A/D - D/A converters, more solid transport, +4Dbu gain structure.
Well worth the difference in price in my opinion...

If the meters aren't reading any input, there's no signal even getting to the unit so it's not the unit itself (unless it's defective).
Is the Input Trim control set fully to the right? (which would be the correct setting for a -10 input -- the default, which is fully to the left...

This is THE perfect example of the potential pitfalls of headphones as mixing tools (I know, not related to this thread 'cos we're talking tracking, but this comment came up!)
Getting the cans to cup closer to your ears, does 2 things - 1) more isolation from the...
I find the cheap effects (including the Behringer) tend to have a metallic, harsh quality to them (compared to the Lexi's, which sound very natural and real.)
But hey, if it works for ya... keep with it! But then, why'd ya ask??? :D
Bruce
You wouldn't need to - grab ANY CD, run it thru a lo-pass filter with the cut-off somewhere between 2-3K, with a -18db/octave slope, and there you have it!
:D
