Adobe Audition (COOL Edit pro) is a very reliable and has lot of hiss/buzz/click/pop/noise/voice cleaning stuff. Take a look at it, definitely a worthy buy. Also works pretty well with Sonar too, if you want to combine both.

The best advice is not to use someone else's presets or values. You have to tweak teh knobs and get the right sound and then make your own presets if you like them.

It is usually your driver problem, update your midi interface/soundcard driver and see if it works. If not select Options>midi devices>click ok everytime before you record and see if that works (worked for me when I had this issue in Sonar 2)
