    Soundtracs Topaz 8 24-Channel Board w/Meter Bridge

I could ship to NY, but probably not back in time...:) Hopefully it'll find a good home soon. It really should be helping somebody make music, not sitting in my spare bedroom.

Well, this one's still on the market. I figure sometime next week I may be forced to roll the dice on ebay...

    Soundtracs Topaz 8 24-Channel Board w/Meter Bridge

Pete, I would have hoped so.... but I guess not many folks have room for something this size in their little bedroom setups. I have a dedicated room that's about 12'x16' that just recording/control so a board this size really isn't a problem. But if you're mixing in the...

    Soundtracs Topaz 8 24-Channel Board w/Meter Bridge

Thanks Pete. But I'm affraid the days of people wanting consoles like this are gone. I'm gonna resort to ebay and probably end up loosing money... but oh well, it served me well as a sub while I worked on mine, and hopefully someone will end up with it and enjoy it as much as I have!:)

    Soundtracs Topaz 8 24-Channel Board w/Meter Bridge

I actually ended up with two of these awesome boards. I've had board #1 for about 2 years. I bought board #2 a few months back (the one now for sale). I replaced a couple broken pots, replaced some missing knobs and buttons, cleaned it and most importantly did the +4db mod. I then used...

    WTB: 16 channels ad/da

Very true. My bass traps were without a doubt the biggest improvement I've made in my recording since I upgraded from my first 4-track. It's not as sexy to talk about rigid fiberglass as it is to talk about bit-depth and so forth, but I'd say that 90% of the "which XXX should I buy?" posts...

    WTB: 16 channels ad/da

I'll be interested to see what you end up with. Though everytime I think about replacing my HD24XR with converters and going straight to my PC's hard drive, I'm told that for the cost of 16 converters that are comparable to the ones on the HD24, I'd be looking at spending more thn what the HD24...

    Making a Cover DEMO

I don't know either app first hand but would have to say yes on both. You're cd should have 44.1kHz/16bit .wav files on 'em, or maybe even mp3s. Both should be easily handled by any DAW. The only thing I'd be a bit concerned about would be importing a file of that length. I can't imagine...

    WTB: 16 channels ad/da

Tom, I'd have to say that unless you're recording mouse farts or maybe ant burps, I don't think the HD24 would be noticable. I've done a fair amount of mandolin and acoustic guitar in my control room with zero problems with the HD24... now my squeeky chair is quite another story all together...

    WTB: 16 channels ad/da

Tom, X is on to something here. That Topaz you have into a HD24 would be an awesome option... come to think of it, that's my setup. I still mix in the box most of the time, but being able to do 24 tracks on my board is also a nice option. I bet you could find one for your $1200 budget on the...

    Making a Cover DEMO

Just about any DAW can do this. Import the one giant-ass long wav file and chop off everything you don't need. If that's all you want to do, save maybe some fade-outs, etc. The cheapest of the cheapest packages will allow you to do that, as well as add a bit of compression or eq and do your...

AUX Sends still audible -- Sonar 6 Studio

Hmmm.... OK. I'll give that whirl if/when I get some time with it this weekend. Thanks for the help and kind words. I'm diggin' it so far!:)

AUX Sends still audible -- Sonar 6 Studio

I found this thread: https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=195905&highlight=reverb+aux+solo Which seems to end right before my answer would have surfaced. But I'm essentially wondering about the same thing. When I solo an individual track that has an AUX send on it, I hear not only...

Is my 1/8" Stereo Out Enough???

OK, I laughed like an 8 year old... I agree that converters matter in a studio environment, but in this case, I'm hopeful for casual listening and occassionally checking mixes, a standard type soundcard will suffice. I'm honestly not crazy about a $3 radio shack "Y" addapter being anywhere in...

Is my 1/8" Stereo Out Enough???

Cool, off to Radio Shack I go. Since this PC was originally intended only as a work PC (CAD, Office, etc.) I'm not even sure what sound card is in it. I just looked at the back of it last night to confirm it has 1/8" outs... I wouldn't mind a small upgrade but from my quick look at the...
