    Tracking a Singing Drummer???

OK, so say I convince them that it's an issue. There are a handful of other options but each comes with it's own problems. - Option 1: have the guitarist or harp player sing the scratch vocals on the songs the drummer usually sings. Problem: Neither the guitarist or harp player have ever had...

    Tracking a Singing Drummer???

Not sure how it is with other hobbyist recording guys but I don't exactly have bands beating down my door to pay me right now. If I'm lucky I do 5 or 6 paying bands a year, and in the past year or so, it's been half that. That being said, if these old dudes want to do it this way, that's what...

    Tracking a Singing Drummer???

Maybe not "good" but certainly "old". I hadn't thought about being able to see the drums. He only plays a 4 piece with 2 cymbals but I guess I have to wing it with the foam thingy. It'll be a chance to learn one way or the other I guess...

    Tracking a Singing Drummer???

Thanks all. I truly do appreciate your input and thoughts on this. The 6"x6" foam thingy soundes like a really good idea. I'm gonna try that for sure. Yeah, "seasoned" was supposed to imply "old dude who ain't gonna take suggestions from some kid (36) punk." They are paying me, so I'm...

    Tracking a Singing Drummer???

I'm working with a local blues band full of... well... seasoned players, including a singing drummer. I want to record them as "live" as possible, while still being able to have some flexibility when mixing. My thought is to have all the players in the same room but have their amps (harp and...

Hooked up my Tascam 38... man I've missed it

ARP - cool to see your name pop up here. I've always enjoyed your analog-ish posts (is that word?). I'm actually considering tracking my blues/roots band with it in a few weeks. I think we can get everything on there with a stripped down mic setup. I have to confess, I may have to mix in...

Hooked up my Tascam 38... man I've missed it

About 7 years ago, I went from using a Tascam 38 exclusively to a setup with an Alesis HD24. That led to me mixing in Sonar and now I have a Motu 828 that records straight to my PC. A few weeks back, I got around to doing something I'd been meening to do for years and that was to transfer...

Is my new 8Pre Killing my PC?

Actually when I got that PC back in '05, it was towards the upper end of what was available, but yeah, I guess a 6 year old computer might not have the balls I now need. I was only using it for mixing and was recording straight to a HD24XR back then, but even now, it does a fine job when I'm...

Is my new 8Pre Killing my PC?

It's a ebay whitebox special. 1.60GHz AMD processor and 2GB of RAM, a pair of 250MB Hard drives. The MOTU 828 is connected via firewire and then the 8Pre is connected to the 828mkIII via ADAT.

Is my new 8Pre Killing my PC?

Cool. And Thanks. Seems to be managable, but I think it may be time to look at the budget and see if a new PC fits...

Is my new 8Pre Killing my PC?

I recently added a MOTU 8Pre to my MOTU 828mkIII so I can record 16 tracks simultaneously. I have my band coming in to my home studio in a few weeks so I decided I should plug in 16 mics, set up the tracks in Sonar, and hit record. First issue was I had to start and restart the 8Pre a few...

If you owned an NTK and a SP C3, what would be next?

I've not heard that, but I have one so might give it a try. A 414 has always been on my wish list but know nothing about the Avantone CK-40, or even how I'd use a stereo mic...

    TRS-TRS Snakes & Neutrik PatchBay

OK, how about this. I'll take 20% off AND cover shipping for anybody who can email me a image of their current student ID. Maybe a way to help a young home recorder get setup. If you're working on your JD, or PhD, maybe not, but the rest why not?

If you owned an NTK and a SP C3, what would be next?

I have a Rode NTK that I love for male vocals, especially in the bass/baritone range (me). I also have a Studio Projects C3 that seems to do a great job on tenor male vocals (especially those Jack Johnson whisper/singer guys), the two females I've recorded with it and a variety of none vocal...

    TRS-TRS Snakes & Neutrik PatchBay

Hurrumpffff!!! Well a fellow member just pointed out an online store that is selling the same patchbay for $74 shipped. With that in mind I guess I need to lower my price if I'm really serious about getting this out of my rack. Let's say $65 for it and less if you buy some cables too...

    TRS-TRS Snakes & Neutrik PatchBay

Got a couple of the cables sold. Thanks BentRabit. As for the couple of trade offers I've received, it got me thinking, sure I'm open to trading. Not sure what I need so hit me up with what you've got to offer and we can talk. But as they say, Cash is (still) King. Thanks!!!
