Keeping mixes consistant across an album: is there any other way than this?

Ok, the daughter is in bed, the wife is in the living room with a friend and I'm gonna dig into the manual and see if I can get this figured out... thanks!

Keeping mixes consistant across an album: is there any other way than this?

I keep thinking about some form of "Import Track Settings" though. For this particular album, it would be great if you could store track settings in some bulk configuration that I could then "import" that would include the 9 drum tracks, the 2 upright bass tracks, the 2 acoustic tracks, the...

Keeping mixes consistant across an album: is there any other way than this?

Some interesting thoughts, and I appreciate the different view points. Honestly though, I know what works for me in terms of my approach to mixing full albums so I'll stick with the way I described in the OP. I did setup a template specifically for this project which was useful. In regards to...

Keeping mixes consistant across an album: is there any other way than this?

Very cool. I honestly have no idea of X1 has any sort of functionality like what you describe. It would make sense but I'll have to do some digging. At a minimum it has me thinking about other approaches. Thanks. I'm also thinking I may try this in the Cakewalk area now.

Sonar X1 Producer. Didn't even occur to me that there might be a DAW specific option... my wheels are turning :)

Keeping mixes consistant across an album: is there any other way than this?

When I started home recording, I had a 8-track reel to reel, a mixer and some effects. When I'd have a project where I mixed multiple songs, I'd spend a while on one song, get it mixed down, then use the same basic fader and outboard settings for the remaining songs. Now that I mix in a DAW...

Any Other A&H GS3 Owners Out There??? - Mods, Tips, Thoughts???

I just yesterday picked up a 16 channel Allen & Heath GS3 for under $400. It was a bit dirty, missing one knob, and one of the channel pan pots isn't working, but all else is functional. I've spent a little time taking the knobs off and cleaning it up but realize there are also some functional...

    Better Preamps, converters, or???

Some OUTSTANDING input, Thanks! The Mod on the MixWiz seems fairly easy (I'm about half way done) but the more I reflect, the more I think the MixWiz is probably A.O.K. Yeah, 2 years of a crying daughter AND probably more importantly, not doing nearly as much music, might totally have...

    Better Preamps, converters, or???

I was lucky enough to have a Soundtracs Topaz for several years in my recording setup. I was recording to an Alesis HD24XR and would sometimes mix on the Topaz but was mixing mostly in Sonar. I had a custom built 8’ wide desk that housed the board, and had a built in 12 space rack on one side...

I tried a few weeks back but the kind of losers who responded were just scary, but that may be the way to go... was really hoping to help out somebody here. This board has given me so much over the years, ya know?

    Yorkville YSM-1 (Original) - FREE

I found this on another site: Studio Monitors Series YSM1 - Passive Monitor - 70w, 6.5 inch / 1 inch The YSM-1 is a compact, 2-way, near-field studio monitor designed to accurately reproduce the signal from a recording and mixing chain without contributing sonic coloration. It has clarity...

Tried to record whole band - crackles and pops GALORE...

I may never know why the act of simply unplugging the firewire from my PC and plugging it into the Mac and then restarting the 828 and 8Pre "fixed" the issue for the day. I guess fate or dumb luck or some combination of the two. :) Now I can't wait to get a full band back in to track to my...

Tried to record whole band - crackles and pops GALORE...

An update for anybody that comes across this in the future. I'm now quite certain the issue I was having was clock related. It turns out that you can get audio signal to pass from the 8Pre to the 828 without having the clock on the 8Pre slaved to the 828 via the "return" optical cable. I...
