Hi,
Yes, you are right, I just got an Art tube pre-amp and an NT1. They sound great. The recording here was done a few weeks ago though when I hadn't got them yet. Next time I'll use them though, I sure hope it makes a difference...

Thanks for your feedback. I agree on the drums being a bit loud. Others have had the same comment. I guess mixing through computer speakers isn't to be recommended... Do you have any advice on how to achieve a good (synth) baseline?

Hi,
Heres my second try. The set up is the same as last time.
I recorded directly to hard drive (without a preamp) using Cubase Vst 3.5. For noise removal I used Cooledit.
The soundcard is a Soundblaster Live Platinum. The instruments are an electric guitar, the rest are midi-instruments...
Thanks for your feedback. I just got my NT-1 and Art pre-amp. I must say that things sound a lot better now (especially from a noise perspective). Before I used the built-in preamp in my sound card = mucho noise. I had to use heavy noise reduction in Cooledit which messed up the sound...
Hi,
I recorded directly to hard drive (without a preamp) using Cubase Vst 3.5. For noise removal I used Cooledit.
The soundcard is a Soundblaster Live Platinum. The problem with this card is that all the midi sounds are very low volume which means that when I record them as audio at full midi...
Hi,
Im pretty new to this recording stuff. This is my first attempt at recording. I would very much appreciate any feedback which would help me improve.
This is the link (it's rather long, just copy it)...
Hi,
There are quite a number of sites on the web where people who want to buy the same thing make the purchase together in order to bring down the price e.g. www.letsbuyit.com.
Since a lot of us seem to be interested in buying pre-amps, microphones etc maybe we could try to set up something...
Hi,
I am recording through one microphone to my hard drive. When I record having selected stereo I get two copies of the same track. Is there any use in recording stereo when I use just one mic or is it just as good to record in mono then?
Thanks
Pedro
Hi,
I have a set-up with a fast computer running Cubase and Cooledit, a soundblaster live platinum soundcard, a Rode NT1 and a Tube MP pre-amp (i.e. no mixer). I mainly record vocals and acoustic guitar but also some electric guitar. I plan to record some violin tracks as well.
I am looking...
Hi,
I am thinking about getting the ART tube pre-amp for connecting to a Rode NT1 (or possibly AKG c3000). An alternative would be to purchase a mixer. Are there any decent low cost mixers with sound of the same quality as the preamp? My budget is 200 USD.
Pedro
Hi,
My soundcard has a mic in as well as a line in. I am able to record sound using the microphone that shipped with the computer (small grey low-quality) using the the mic in.
Will the c3000 leave less output and therefore require a pre-amp?
Have you got any idea how much a phantom power...
Hi,
I have a soundblaster live soundcard and would like to connect the AKG c3000 mic to it directly (i.e. without going through a mixer). (I plan to buy a mixer later, but money is a bit tight now).
Is this possible. From what I know the akg c3000 needs phantom power. Can I buy an external...
