    Tape Slowing Effect

I've never used Sonar, but there has to be a "global track" that you can automate, I use logic and there's a drop down menu where you can show global tracks (tempo, volume, pitch), from there, you can draw in automation points and what have you. this might help...

    Tape Slowing Effect

there's a couple ways, it helps to know what DAW you're using. You can globally automate the pitch and tempo so that it slows down like a tape, or you can get an effect, I believe Native-Instrument's Tracktor's 12 has a stretch thing that sounds just like a record cut off or a tape slowed down...

How loud are final mixes supposed to be?

I really don't think there is a rule, although people will tell you there are. If you were sending it off to be mastered, I would personally make sure NOTHING is clipping, and nothing is above unity gain (the 0db mark on the fader)((nothing is at +1.1db i.e) the more headroom you leave the...

Piano panned hard L and R, does it cover things in the centre?

try it and see...you never know unless you try. I never pan things hard left and hard right, once summed to mono, you get some pretty crucial volume loss then. I personally would do what sounds best to me, but I would start panning them about 45% each way (L-R), not hard right.

audio engineering school - Recording Connection

whatever you do, try to get a LOT of practice and experience. I am learning on my own, at a pretty quick pace...but what separates people who have jobs from people who don't is 1. how good they are at their skill set, and 2. how much experience they have.

audio engineering, glossary and reference manual

+1 for internet's best recording resources...+1 for home recording for dummies, its good, not very thorough, but t will give you some basic ideas, I own it. The best mixing engineer's book IMHO is Mixing Audio: Concepts, Ideas, and Practices, Or the 'Mixing Engineer's Handbook', both of which...

yo check out my new beattape and mixtape

yeah man the beats seem wayyyy too quantized, like a drum machine. tr to add some human feel in there, like q-swing or something like that. Try to get a better microphone, use some compression on your voice, maybe some reverb to mix it up a little bit. and eq the voice much better. keep it up, T

    What if your vocals suck

it really is about the visual act, I don't even try to sell my music, I put it up for free dl hoping that when I perform a show or try to sell merch, people would support me then...its all materialistic now.

Why does this hurt my ears?

yeah this thread went in all types of directions...hate for the band, baby boomers, coffee, morning constitutions, poop... my 2 cents: I used to like that kind of music, but grew out of it hard. From a music standpoint, its for some people, its not for others. from a recording standpoint...
