PLEASE, I'M BEGGIN ! Help me design a Intel 3GHZ, 8GB RAM PT DAW -Component Selection

Yow :) So I'm confused. One paragraph you say you're considering a Mac. The next paragraph you say you're considering a PC. I'm gonna guess you're just not sure yes??

Clicks and noises suddenly appeared in PT session

Clicks are almost ALWAYS a clock issue. Do you have an external digital device?? Have you re-set the sessions sample-rate or bit depth from when it was created??

PLEASE, I'M BEGGIN ! Help me design a Intel 3GHZ, 8GB RAM PT DAW -Component Selection

Hopefully we've evolved as a forum society and risen above the Mac-vs-PC comparisons. There are battles here and there that each machine will win but in the end the war will be lost. As a life long Mac guy, working in a sea of Mac production facilities (Hollywood) I've recently added a PC to my...

Naw jmorris, I don't want to get into a pissing match over semantics. I have some fairly deep convictions concerning this stuff (particularly personal experience regarding friends) and I need to steer clear of any arguments of the merits there in. It's an argument and a dilemma no one can win...

Gosh....having had a close friend in the Bay Area who was writing code for DAW's in the early days before proper protection schemes and watching him lose, not only his business, but his home I can think of VERY little on Earth that I disagree with more than your stance here. Most manufacturers...

Hey jmorris, Pro Tools is an application which is NOT designed to install ANYTHING by dragging and dropping INTO it's internal architecture. If you can't get the installer to run rest assured there's something is wrong on the installer side. Yes there are cracks and work around's that have...

    Protools problems... playback/recording.

Digi error codes can be specific to a problem or they can be the only error code Pro Tools decides it knows how to deal with. Either way in order to solve problems without guessing or worse creating a new problem in an ill-informed attempt to solve an old one we need more specific information to...

Yikes....this has become far more convoluted than it needs to be :) When you buy (and the operative word here is buy) any Waves plug-in or bundle you DO NOT buy a Mac version verses a PC version. You simply buy the plug-ins. The problem here is the plug-ins in this discussion are not purchased...

You'd have to describe your system in much more detail to hazard a guess. Computer/Drives ect

Yep got it... parallel compression would indeed cause phase/delay problems.

    plugin delay compensation in LE

I'm scratchin my head on this one. Just out of curiosity. Are you saying you can notice the delay from a grouped drum sub mix with a compressor on it's master against the rest of the instruments in the mix?? If by inserting a Digi comp on an aux track induces that much delay that it tugs on the...

    oh man..another question protools

No in this case the least damage would be done by "dragging" the plug-ins into the "un-used" folder. That's why it's there. A shelter for possibly problematic plug-ins.

    oh man..another question protools

Ok cool.....I'm just trying to help :) Follow through with my earlier suggestions. The proper version of PT is of utmost importance. THEN: Create a folder within your plug-in unused folder. Drag all the Ignition Pack plug ins into this new folder. Re-boot Pro Tools. By process of elimination...

    oh man..another question protools

The first release of 7.4 was unstable. The lasted version of 7.4 is CS7. That is 7.4 cs7. There has been some talk that 7.4 cs5 was more stable. I have no knowledge as to which is a stouter revision but in this case you MUST update to at least 7.4 cs5. If the culprit (cause of your current...

No you misunderstand. The Waves Shell gets installed "behind the scene" when you properly INSTALL the plug-ins from an authorized CD or DVD disk. The key word here is "install". To date it appears that you're dragging plug-ins into a folder and skipping the install process. A recipe for access...

Well sort of. I take it neither of you buy into my Waves Shell explanation :) Oh well. That said when you PROPERLY install your Waves plug-ins as I mentioned in my post :) It will give you the option to use the right code. Mac or PC (that is if it even needs it) I'll say it again in the...

I'll assume this is still the case although I abandon Waves plug-ins years ago. Waves plug-ins work off of a protection scheme that starts with what they call "The Shell". I never took the time to fully understand what was happening when "The Shell" got installed but I do know a Shell MUST be...

    here's a weird one...

Import your tracks into the "regions bin" first and then drag them into the session from there OR create a session and drag and drop the files into Pro Tools.
