Are the New Behringer Valve Microphones Any Good??

By and large, I agree with you. However, it would appear that either no one on the forum has used this new Behri mic, or no one has an opinion on their experience with it. The next step, though, is to relate experiences we have had with the brand. Personally, I think Behri has...

    Logic 9

Cool. Keep us posted, chef. I'd love to see how that MIDI transform function works. Tony, thanks for sharing the flex-time demo. Looks very useful!

    Logic 9

Flex time looks very appetizing indeed - something that was obviously lacking from previous Logic editions. This transform/replacement tool - for converting audio files, say a kick drum track, to MIDI for use with samplers - also looks like a big improvement over the old methods. Chef, since...

    Logic controls with Duet?

True, complete independent control (even if managed in the software) would be nice, but it's never seemed to be an issue in actual use. Nothing against the FastTrack - it's a nice box - but it's not really in the same league as the Apogee. Completely different preamp and converter experience...

    portable vocal booth

Heavy? Yes, but no problem with most standard mic stands. Worth £229? Absolutely not. I have one that I picked up gently used from a studio a couple years ago. Very nice tool if you have some reflection issues with your room, but not worth the upfront asking price. Look for a used one (or...

    Logic controls with Duet?

However, there is a setup option for the Duet that allows you to customize the muting options. I have mine set up so that when I press mute (which is just pressing the center button and holding it for a few moments), it mutes only the monitor output and the headphones are unaffected. So, no...

Problem With Behringer Xenyx 1204FX Mixing Desk

Mittens, What USB interface model was included? Was it the new X-something 2.5, or the old 202 model? (I assume that this is the Xenyx mixer that has to plug to-and-from the interface box vs. having a USB port built into the back of the mixer.) Have you tried running other audio sources I/O...

    1082 with Mac problems

Are you using Logic/Logic Express as the recording software? In my case, when adding the 1082 to my Mac, I used the Logic "Control Surface" utility to add the Tascam, not the disc that came from Tascam. If not using Logic - meaning that you're installing the Tascam manually for use with...

    S/pdif?

Let me track that through... You want to use the preamps on the Firepod as a front end to the Digi? Since the Firepod is an interface in itself, I don't quite get what you're trying to do. The S/PDIF ports on the Firepod are on RCA/Coax plugs, so one could not connect between the Firepod's...

    Setting up my "new" Mac?

To your original question: there are several interface options available for PPC Macs. How many simultaneous inputs & outputs do you need? What's the budget? Personally, I'm a big fan of the Apogee interfaces. On the simple side, there's the ONE and the Duet. Up from there is the Ensemble...

    S/pdif?

Steve, S/PDIF (Sony/Phillips Digital Interface) carries a similar signal, but only two tracks at a time, whereas ADAT interfaces can carry eight tracks at once. I assume by your comment that you're working with a lightpipe S/PDIF port?

    Check this Drummer's Set!

And I imagine the FOH guy gave him a big hug after he found out how few drums he would need to mic! :D

Mixer for additional inputs with Duet???

Certainly. I hope I wasn't implying that you would find poor quality using the Behri as a submixer... just that it wouldn't be the same (very high quality) that you find in the Apogee's pre-amps. ;) For submixing a set of drums, the setup described would be a fine solution.

Mixer for additional inputs with Duet???

One could use the Behringer as a submixer, sending the main L/R output to the Duet's 1/4" inputs. Pro's: Ability to use as many inputs as the Behringer has. Con's: Inability to edit the individual signals once they are submixed. You also can't use both of the Apogee's mic preamps and 1/4"...

    problem with transfered .LSO file.

Not on the interface, but in the project settings. (I've attached a picture below; but this may or may not match up to your options... Logic Platinum?? Good 'ol Emagic! :) ) There was someone else who made a post a while back about a similar issue, but on Sony Acid. In that case, it had to...

    problem with transfered .LSO file.

Did you check to ensure that the project file and the original recording have the same sample rate? Drums recorded @ 44.1kHtz and imported into a 96kHtz project (or vice versa) would cause issues similar to what you're describing...

preamp for VO: which one of these?

We might have to move this to the Mic forum the way it's going... :D John, with all due respect (and you certainly know your business), I think your comment is too broad. As Chris correctly points out, the U87 is a staple among pro voice artists. Anyone who has listened to a Simpsons plug...

preamp for VO: which one of these?

I think you have your answer, then. ;) OT: Well done on the demo reels. I really like how you show a good deal of range in your abilities, and the demos are well-produced. Great voice, too!

preamp for VO: which one of these?

Hey, Chris! Nice to see you here in addition to Deirdre's board. I agree with MoFo... the preamp can give you some new color, but the issue of how much room sound is introduced is determined more by your mic than the preamp. I think the Great River is a great preamp (used one in a local...
