Get a good condensor or two, and some SM57s. NT1s are nice large diaphragm condensors, which run at $169 each from zzounds.com (local retailers will most likely price match if you print out the page), SM57s run at $79 each now a days I believe. Remember, condensors need phantom power. Rolls...

Would anyone care to speak against running the mic into a guitar amp and running the line out from the amp into a direct box, then into the console? Cause that's what I'm starting to do to add reverb to my vocals. And it doesn't sound bad at all.

Really? Is the sound difference that bad? I mean, is it totally out of the question to use two seperately bought NT1s as drum overheads? Can't you EQ them to sound the same? Or is it too obvious?

You could always record everything onto a reel to reel, then mix it down onto your computer and edit what you want. That would be the best thing to do.
