Hmmm.... I'll take a look at the Bassman. Or maybe look into someone building something similar for me.

    drum micing

You can get a good sound out of 2 overheads. I've done it before. Just get 2 really good condensors. Suggestions, everyone?

    Mic Stands

I go for the $16 OnStage mic stands for everything...for my overheads I just put weights on the legs so the mic doesnt fall and I lose $200. I'm trying to devise a way of weighing it down without those weights...hmmm!

How are the Bassmans compared to the Hot Rod Devilles? Are the Bassman reissues good?

    488 MKII ???

He's talking about Tape Outs...Track Outs...whatever you want to call them. An output for each track, so you'll have 8 outputs for the tape outs...then your other outputs. You'll obviously need a sound card with that many inputs...unless you wanna record one track at a time. If you were just...

    Cheapest Place on the web

zzounds! I have yet to find a place with lower prices on the net than http://www.zzounds.com/a--2676837 . 8thstreet sometimes has comparable prices, but the search engine on that site is terrible. Not to mention the site is ugly...heh. But anyhow, you might also want to check local music...

    Ross Mixer?

Anyone heard of a Ross mixer? A friend of mine out of state bought a 16 channel Ross mixer for $150. Never heard of this brand, so I assume it can't be that great...am I right or wrong here?

    amp mic'ing and pre amps!?!

How come you can't run the Bass DI direct? Most people would suggest just running bass direct instead of micing the amp. That's what I do and I think it sounds just fine...I just need some compression on it.

    Headphones

Ahh! $100, I think you missed the part where I wondered why I'd spend $200 on 2 sets of headphones for the bass player and drummer when they're not listening for precision or setting levels/eqs/what not.

    Headphones

MDR7506 I'll give a thumbs up on these headphones...they sound amazing. Speaking of headphones, since I'm the "engineer" of my studio, I really only need one good pair of headphones, and the rest of the band (while tracking) don't need such an expensive pair of headphones do they? I was just...

    Bass Synth?

Most likely...I played around with one and I really liked it. You can get some crazy ass sounds from it. I heard Sonic Youth uses the guitar Micro Synth. It doesn't necessarily have to be techno or rap or whatever...you can use it to create a beautiful sonic mess, crazy sounding guitar noise and...

using an amp with a AKGC1000

Affordable preamps of choice around these parts are the ART Tube MP ($99, single channel) and the Presonus BlueTube ($149, dual channel)...from what I've heard around the board, the Presonus is a better product.
