    What is a drummer for?

ive practiced with a strobe light on before and all it did was give me a headache...not to mention i was screaming my balls off with the thing a foot from my eyes, but still...it wont help you play music. The drummer i used to paly with just got cocked all the time and broke shit, then passed...

A couple of my bands songs

Just lookin for some people to tell me what they think of my band. Try not to judge me too much on the quality of the "music" although i wouldnt mind hearing some feedback on it. And keep in mind these are from before my band had a drummer so we just used a drum machine. Alot of the music...

    i have a question

yea actually i read one yesterday about compression before eq and i it more or less answered what i was thinkin. I think ill run compression first, and then use minimal eq to make sure i dont really cancel my compression. As long as it sounds good in the end.

    micin a set

any suggestions?...maybe the beta 52 instead of goin the cheap way? It seems alot of people enjoy the AKG D112. Maybe ill check one of them out if i come up with the money. But keep in mind, im just looking for a equipment to learn more with, not neccasarily to make great recordings with yet. I...

How to make your kick stand out?

maybe you could try doubling the bass track and panning them oppisite, maybe hard left and hard right, or somewhere not so drastic. Ive heard of people doing this alot to leave a good amount of room for the kick. Experiment with that for a little, maybe thatll help out alot.

    i have a question

let me try to clear things up a little... alright...my original intention was to buy another ub1202 so i can add 4 more mic preamps. So i was going to run 4 mics into the first, then the master out to a second ub1202 that also has 4 mics in it. Then from that second ub1202, i was going to run...

    Getting rid of outside noise

thanks...im not lookin for perfect isolation, i was just wondering if there was anything i could do to help it out a little. It probably wont be too big of a deal, i was just wonderin if anything simple like blankets might help at all. And oh yea, moving isnt really an option seeing as im still...

    phasing

one slight problem... im gunna be recording into my mixer, then out to my 8 track stereo or mono, depending on the song. Im not using a computer, and if i do (i use acid pro usually) i wont be able to do that because itll be on one track. So is there any techniques other than, move mics around...

    phasing

so...ive been reading alot in preperation of finnaly being able to start settin up my project studio soon. Just tryin to refresh my memory on this stuff after a long break of just writing music...anyways, phasing, it seems pretty hard to get around. I know the 3:1 rule, dont completely...

    shure pg mics

are they worth it at all?..how do they compare to the ones they try to duplicate? I was looking at the pg52 bass drum mic instead of spending the extra $80 or so on the beta 52. I was also thinkin of possibly gettin the whole pg series drum mic kit, and then getting some decent overheads. Tell...

    micin a set

In a little while im gunna try to turn my basement into a two room project studio. Im gunna have two behringer ub1202's runnin into a zoom mrs-8. That will give me eight mic channels to send to a pair of stereo tracks. My biggest problem in the past with recording is that i can never make the...

    Final Confession

oh yea, keep in mind that i only used a zoom 4-track, 3 mics on the drums, and didnt do too much work with placement and such. I guess i relied too much on eq...but eh, this is my first actual project, ill get better as time goes by.

If anyone can think of a better way to do it for cheap please tell me. Thanks.

    Electronic drums

ok...so ive been looking into getting an alesis D4 on ebay for about $120 or so. Then makin my own triggers. I was wondering how good this will sound and such...cause i figured its a cheap alternative, and i cant really make alot of noise, but i want to try to get alot better at drums. So i was...
