What you said is my experience exactly. Great tone on it's own does not necessarily translate as well when mixed. Two things I use every time I mix guitar tracks: real time software parametric eq adjustments-easy to do in Vegas, and Cakewalk FX2 AmpSim.
The CW AmpSim is awesome...

Much to the chagrin of my wife, the anus and the variety of products it yields is one of my favorite topics.
I'll return the nice reference comment to you on the Audition 20. That was my second amp after I decided that my Holmes amp and Hondo guitar would best be used by someone who...
I am not sure what problem you are experiencing. Is the software installed properly? Are your MIDI cables hooked up correctly (MIDI out to MIDI in and MIDI in to MIDI out)? I am in Texas for a few days so I am not able to replicate your problem. Your best bet is to search or post in Line6's...
I had some .wav files that were mixdowns from Vegas that I lost the Vegas source files for after deleting some unecessary, and obviously necessary, files from my hard drive. I wanted to convert these to mp3.

I'm wondering about the difference between using the Vegas mp3 encoder versus mixing down to a .wav file and then using an encoder such as BladeEnc or MusicMatch to convert the .wav to mp3. It seems to me that there are extreme differences in sound quality (vegas encoded files sound much...

I've noticed in several posts that you too are using Vegas Pro; so I gotta question for ya. Have you noticed an incredible difference in quality between mp3's ripped straight from Vegas and those ripped after converting .wav file mixdowns from Vegas by BladeEnc or MusicMatch. Actually...

Yeh, this way if you dial in something you like on the POD itself you can upload the settings to the editor and save 'em or tweak 'em. beware though - it will become a serious time suck once you start messing with it.
dmc
yeah it is.
the software that comes with it allows you to edit the parameters of all fx, gives you access to more amp models, and allows you to combine different amps with different speaker cabinets. this way you can dial in the sound that you want, save it, and even upload it to your POD...

Thanks for your opinion on this one.
I went back and made adjustments based upon your feedback, I think it sounds much better now. It's definitely louder and the guitar is more prominent. I wouldn't say I'm even close to having the ability to mix well, but I'm a lot closer than I...

I am not sure what you mean by livelier. You should be able to dial in just about any kind of sound you could want through the use of the software that comes with the POD. You don't need to invest in a DI box The POD is a direct box that just happens to do an exceptional job of modeling...
I have been working on this since Saturday, and all day today. I uploaded a condensed version to keep download times to a minimum. I'm open to any suggestions on improving the mix; I have no idea if it sounds good or if it sounds like ass anymore-I've listened to it/analyzed it so many times...
I don't think that posting files to evaluate the difference between the two is a vialble option. Once mp3 compression takes hold of your audio, the difference between 16 bit and 24 bit is no longer an issue. I think my dog can tell the difference though, hang on I'll ask...
Beavis on sugar nailed it. I love a good rampage, very liberating. I think the word felch has something to do with removing something from one's ass. I remember it being used in a song by the Dayglo Abortions, whom I had the pleasure of seeing at Liberty Lunch in Austin in '88. They had a...

sort of, parametric can be very precise or very broad, you have control over this. with a graphic it is typically broad, but varies depending on how many bands are in the eq; but the main idea is that the bandwidth (Q) is fixed, and cannot be adjusted.
