    Inexpensive VU Meter Lamps, Bulbs

Resurrecting this old thread because I need to change a burnt bulb in my 246 and I've never done it before. I clicked on the link to the site but it brings me to the homepage, so I'm thinking that they no longer stock that particular bulb? Anyways, I looked online to see if I could find some...

    good 80's/90's analog consoles/mixers.

Don't know if anyone mentioned it already but you should check out the Tascam M320. There was one in our old practice space and even as beat up as that one was, it still sounded great.

Recalibrating Cassette Format Portastudios to use Type I Normal Bias Tapes

I never saw the benefit to maxing out the pitch control. I've heard people talk about doing it, especially back in the day when everyone was using 4-track cassette and seemed to have their own ways of doing things that they claimed worked the best haha. I've read about it and it doesn't add...

    FOSTEX R8 R2R - What cables/tape/master setup etc? - first tape machine -

I was wondering why you didn't just buy a half track mixdown deck? Sending a complete mix to two tracks on the R8 is almost certain to sound worse. I've tried it, sort of. I've recorded 8 tracks to the R8 and then dumped them all into Pro Tools to mix, then sent that mix back to two new tracks...

    FOSTEX R8 R2R - What cables/tape/master setup etc? - first tape machine -

I just put mine up on Reverb and eBay late last night. Did you buy the one that was $600? I don't understand what you mean by mastering on it though? You wouldn't better a mix by sending it to two tracks on the R8 and then running it back, and from my own experience with these Fostex machines...

Replacing the capstan drive belt on a Tascam 22-2

Anyone? Please! Help! Haha. I talked to some guys at Tapeheads.com who have said that it's possible to replace the capstan drive belt only, by taking off the motor (or maybe the flywheel) in the back and putting it on that way. However, if the machine has been sitting long enough, it'll need...

Replacing the capstan drive belt on a Tascam 22-2

I've looked around for past threads about this and none that I have read go through the steps of replacing this belt. I just got a really nice 22-2 yesterday and am really excited to get it running again. Everything except Play works and the unit is in amazing shape. I bought it from a guy who...

This gave me a real chuckle...

Shipping it to the states would cost double what you can find it for here. A guy I know had one of these in his studio apt. Now, I don't mean he had a recording studio in his apt. No. He's living in a one room studio apt with his girlfriend and one of those taking up a quarter of all available...

Fostex R8 pinch roller wheel cover

Sort of. Not sure if I'm going to be able to get by without them so I guess I'll test it out and see what happens. I've had an A8 and a Model 80 for about a year now but the R8 was the one that I wanted in the first place as it was the last one released, has the ins / outs on top, and it's LED...

Yeah, they do. I'm trying to figure out if those would keep it on better. What's their purpose?

    Tascam 244 Project

The pinch roller is the same on the 244 and 246 so yr straight there. That Dr Zee site should be yr savior for all things 244 so definitely check it out. I've found that removing the face and replacing the idler tires only, opposed to the whole idler housing assembly, is pretty tough but has to...

Fostex R8 pinch roller wheel cover

Well, that makes me feel a little better. Do either of you know if the two washers that go under and on top of the pinch roller help it stay on or know if I really need to find some to put on there? If not, a dab of Krazy Glue it is. Thanks!

Fostex R8 pinch roller wheel cover

Hey, picked up an R8 yesterday from a guy who said it hasn't played in years but FF/RW still work. I figured it was the capstan belt, which I already had, so I bought it off him. I replaced the belt this afternoon and everything seems to be working good except the pinch roller wheel cover is...

Ah man, I emailed a guy I knew who told me he was selling one of these with some tapes last month or so. He still had the tapes too, 5 NOS and 2 used ones for $50. Oh well. I had a feeling I was gonna come back on here and you would have already bought em.

A kid I knew in high schools dad had one of these in their basement studio. I thought it was awesome back then. 12 tracks seemed like a Paisley Park to me. They used to charge some of the local bands an hourly rate to record there (I wouldn't play ball and bought my first Porta One instead but...

Using microphones with 1/4" jack and the trascam 388

Why would he not be getting signal after plugging his 1/4" into a D.I. box and then going through the XLR out? I would think that it would work just like using the above adapter, no?
