Terry's Rubber Rollers - Had a couple made recently

I've been to the Athan site but they don't do pinch rollers for cassette Portas like what I mentioned, do they? This was over a year ago so maybe they do if you request it, but they're not advertised and couldn't do it for me when I "needed" mine. I did end up getting one of their wheels for my...

Terry's Rubber Rollers - Had a couple made recently

I searched through our past threads and didn't see much about Terry here, besides the occasional mention/recommendation, so I wanted to make it official. I had such a hard time finding a new pinch roller wheel for my 244 and 246 when I first got them. I ended up buying some from a place in...

    Post Your Analog Recordings Here...

Hey everybody I posted last month about my new album and it's now available on cassette through my Bandcamp. If anyone wants a copy I will dub it to a vintage Maxell XLII or an XLI-S if they want, or the regular green tapes are still left. It's a short run of 50 handmade and there's about 20...

    WTB : 2 Tascam 244/246 Sweepable Knobs

The green knobs for the Tascam 244 that control the gain on the Aux channel. I have the bottoms that control the panning position but the tops with the green part are lost. If you have 2 of those that'd be awesome.

    WTB : 2 Tascam 244/246 Sweepable Knobs

Had a coffee cup containing all the knobs from my 244 in it and my nephew got a hold of it and long story short, I'm missing two green knobs, the ones with the sweepable underneath part. If anyone has a parts machine and can spare a couple, please let me know how much you want for them and I...

    Post Your Analog Recordings Here...

Here's a Youtube video off my full album that came out new year's day on Eyes Closed Recordings! It's available to stream on Spotify, Apple Music, and for dl on iTunes. There's going to be cassettes for sale soon and I will link to my bandcamp in case anybody wants the analog version. The...

Fostex A8LR - playback on rewind?

The A8 that I have does something similar, but it's within normal volume. The FF/RW guard that lowers when you hit either button only lifts the tape 1/8" away from the head, if that, so it's close enough to be heard. Like jpmorris said, if it's really loud then maybe the guard isn't coming down...

HOW TO easily build AUTHENTIC RE-CREATIONS OF LA2A, PULTEC, UA176... ALL BY YOURSELF

Late to the thread, but I am really impressed with your (and anyone else who was involved in the builds) work. I started researching how to build a passive EQ and read a lot on the DIYER site about their kits where you order one and all the directions are given to you. This seems a step up from...

    Tascam 244 head stack motor

Thanks to everyone who's given their help. I am still struggling to get it to stay on. I see what you're saying about the belt being too big and it causing problems. This is the second belt I've tried on this machine, and I trust the seller so I'm pretty confident that it's not the belt but...

    Tascam 244 head stack motor

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm going to keep on trying and hopefully have some good news in the next coming week. I'm going to clean it once more and then try that pulley tip that Evom said first. The screw seems almost impossible to get off unless I bring it to a body shop nearby or...

    Tascam 244 head stack motor

Thanks Evom, The first belt I bought was from eBay and the one I just got this week was from vintage-electronics and about double the price (if that means anything.) It stayed put for about 5 minutes before slipping when I started changing the speed with the pitch wheel. I'm hoping that I...

    Tascam 244 head stack motor

Resurrecting this thread because I am having the same problem with the capstan belt slipping up on the pulley and this time a new belt didn't solve the issue. Hoping either Evom, Findlay or someone else here can lend me a hand. So, here's the problem. I put in a best offer bid on a 244 from...

Mixer to buy for reel to reel 8 track advice

Hi and welcome, When I first got my Fostex decks (A8 and Model 80) I wondered the same thing and saw a Fostex 450 on my local Craigslist. Since it was the model that they made to go along with these decks I figured what the hell and bought it. I had actually bought the one that matched the A8...

    Tascam 688 battery question

Hi, I got a 688 last summer and it thankfully still has battery life but I did read that without the battery you won't be able to enter the scene that allows for mixdown etc. At least that's what I got out of it. It seems to make sense since it's a digital router, you wouldn't be able to...

TASCAM 424 / Replacing Capstan Motor

Hey Findlay, This particular 4-track didn't have any belt degradation needing cleaning from the inside. It's the 424 MKI, the first 424 (out of the three "MK's") that Tascam released. It's not mine, so I don't know if it's still got the original belts in it but the the capstan and counter belts...
