    Oktava MK - 319 vs SP C1

The C1 has quite a hyped upper mid-range presence. It appears from the description of your voice it would definately accentuate the frequency range that you DON'T want accentuated. The C1 has a high pass filter (6db/Octave @ 150hz) or a -10db pad. You can select one, or the other, but not both...

    Holy Moses!!! Lucky ME!

Hmmm... well at the expense of having a few people throw up, I purchased a Neumann U77 twelve years ago. It is a multi-pattern 'T'-powered FET version made in 1967. It uses the same capsule as a U67. It was just about the time 'T' powering was on the way out with 48v phantom power coming into...

    Holy Moses!!! Lucky ME!

So let us know if the C1 sounds EXACTLY like a U87! ;) How about posting a review comparing them both?

    U87

Comparisons are nearly always inevitable. If one had to choose a 'reference' mic to make a comparison with then, like 'em or not, the U87 has been an industry stalwart for the last thirty years, so then it is not unreasonable to use that as a reference. I have no problem with someone saying...

    Which mic for Bass drum...

Pretty much a summary of everything mentioned... The older AGK D12 for a more rounded sound The newer D112 for more click Audio Technica ATM25 Shure beta 52 Sennhesier 421 Beyer M88 Electrovoice RE20 Neumann U47 Fet (if you got money to burn ;)) Overall the ATM 25 probably represents the best...

    km-184s

I recently compared my KM84 with a friends KM184. The 184 was quite a bit brighter than the KM84... if anything the 184 sounded closer to my AKG451EB than it did to the 84! I don't mean the same... just closer. The KM84 has a nice kind of 'woody' tone on acoustic guitar and while sounding less...

    Studio Projects B3 vs. C1

Re: Re: Re: Studio Projects B3 vs. C1 The T3 has less upper-mid boost than the C1 and is, to repeat some overused adjective re. tube mics, smoother and warmer sounding. Some may say it is a darker sound... which when comparing it directly with a C1 is probably a fair description. However don't...

    U87

I've compared the C1 with a ten year old U87 and 1967 Neumann U77 (early FET T powered version) which uses the same capsule as a U67. A C1 sounding like a U87?!! = TOTAL BUNKUM!! I posted the following on another thread... I recently compared the C1 and C3... the C3 being the multi-pattern...

    SP C-1 as stereo pair?!

Ditto what the others have said. It depends on what type of stereo recording you intend doing. For instance a solo guitar may require relatively close micing. On the other hand, a live recording of a small ensemble with a stereo pair would require the mic placement to be further from the source...

Rode NT1000 vs. Studio Projects C1

Cranking up the highs on a C1 thru a Mackie!!!! Yeesh!! I don't wish to be rude, but I the one thing a C1 doesn't need is more highs.... especially through a Mackie! I've used a C1 through a Mackie and even with the EQ set flat it was the most 'edgy' out of several pres I ran it through...

Used diaphragms in Studio Projects B1 and T3?

Well I kind of figured that but I was just waiting until Alan responds... which I have no doubt he will! ;)

Used diaphragms in Studio Projects B1 and T3?

My understanding is that all the 'B' series Studio Projects mics use 3 micron diaphragms and the T3, along with the 'C' series, use 6 micron diaphragms. I'm sure Alan Hyatt can elaborate on this. Incidently Alan, without given away any trade secrets, if you take say a B1, apart from the...
