    "visual" sound problem

No its not really a problem as it is not directly audible but it just bothers me to know its there. I thought at one point it might have something to do with the fact that digital recordings in 16 bit 44100 hz sound a little cold and harsh but that is of course, silly... (or is it..(horrormusic))

    vox sound too "out front"

Nice that someone backs me up on the existance of paragraphic eq´s. I use Soundforge and there u have graphic, parametric and OH! paragraphic eq. With that u can cut or boost from +20 to -20 db´s (dont do that) in four bands at once with exact precision and chose how wide octave wise you want...

    "visual" sound problem

I recognize the issue you refer to but have no anwer. I would like to add a question to the tread though, since it is related. When I do a spectrum analasys on basically anything, any track or mixed down song, I get a sharp peak at around 15430 hz. And I can´t touch this with peak equalisation...

    Double Track Vocals?

Mick Jagger did it in a cool way on "Hideaway" by double tracking chorus and panning the two takes hard to each side and keeping the voices fairly dry. The result is not a full single vocie but instead like you have two Micks´s in the room.

    hard drive hell

The information I have got on this is that it is a windows problem. It have something to do with cache memory and "read ahead" or what it´s called. There is a windows version that are designed for audiorecording that don´t have these problems i´ve heard. There is a setting change one can do...

    vox sound too "out front"

An paragraphic EQ is better in my opinion (maybe you mean one of those?). Its often a good thing to roll of lower frequensies on vocals and maybe the really high ones. If needed even boost in the 7,8-9K range for "silk". This will sit it better in the mix. small reverbs (short) pull things back...

    Singer/Strummer Separation

You could try using an acoustic guitar with a built in mic and use a chord. There are those who actually sound ok. And no bleed. And Fenix. Hard to believe? Of course you get the best feeling in the guitarplaying if you sing and play at the same time. The playing WILL be affected by what you...

    Bad reference CDs

Cominginsecond - I agree with you a bit on that Furtada issue. That album is almost too "polished" too be a good reference ´cus one can hardly do anything compared to it. I found myself thinking "how did they do that?" a couple of times and it get depressing after awhile...
