    General question about loops...

I'm not hearing anything (clicks) but then I don't have all the high end equipment and possibly not the keen engineering ears to detect it if it's there. How do you know if the loops are "truncated" and would you explain what that actually is? Thanks

Absolute best interface for Logic Studio? NOT CHEAPEST!

But what about the homerecordist/songwriter! After a few years at homerecording I've come to realize and understand that my main job description is musician/writer. I no longer have (never did really) any aspirations of producing any product that would rival (technically) a large state of the...

    protools mbox noise

This is very good to know and a relatively easy fix if it turns out to be the problem. I checked my cables too and switched out once with no improvement.

    protools mbox noise

Are you Mac or PC? I run PT and Logic E with an Mbox mini and I've been having fits with audio when trying to use Logic or GarageBand. Noise is just one of the issues with me...one channel goes out sometimes...sometimes the record input is not recognised and I have to restart...also, most...

    Firewire External Drives???

It's recommended because it's faster. I may not need to use it since I'm basically a songwriter/recorder and I seldom have large sessions with many tracks.

    Firewire External Drives???

Thanks for that link. I haven't purchased yet, I may not need to but the "snow leopard ready" feature is a selling point for sure.

High Pitched Tone in Studio Monitors...

Nope...recorded in this room for 5 yrs. and didn't have this tone. Also there are audio spikes when I preform certain functions like snapping to zero point for playback, and when my puter's been asleep...when it wakes back up. I could turn off "sleep" but I'm not always at the computer when I...

High Pitched Tone in Studio Monitors...

Update! Moved my amp away from my computer monitor...no difference. Any time I open an audio program and engage the Mbox soundcard the tone is back. It has to be something to do with the audio interface between the mbox and the mac.

    General question about loops...

Is it true that it's not necessary to crossfade midi loops but if they are wavs then it's best to crossfade all the regions in the track?

    Mixing Loops

    Advice please/Logic & Protools

    Mixing Loops

I'm old school and just getting a handle on working with loops. I've worked with Pro Tools but I've recently moved to a Mac and I'm currently considering Logic, especially since I've done a project in GarageBand. From a songwriters point of view I find the GB/Logic approach fast and to the...

    New To Mac

My pro engineer buddy, who originally got me to go Pro Tools, has moved from PT to Logic. He told me that the audio file types used in GarageBand are not the same hi fidelity wav/aiff. I had just assumed that since selecting 24bit in options that I was getting 24bit wav/aiff. He told me not to...

High Pitched Tone in Studio Monitors...

Update... Sorry for the long absence...I forgot which forum I posted this in and I haven't been getting notices on it. I think I've eleminated the USB cable as a possible cause but I haven't moved the amp yet...hassle. I'll do that next and report. Thanks for the suggestions.

    New To Mac

This is good to know. It will help me with my decision. Lowly little GB is an epiphany for me. This approach is so much faster and easier for getting a song arrangement down. I don't think I'll ever try to record an amp again. I've spent a life time learning how to get a good onstage sound...

    New To Mac

Got it! That's a bit of a hassle but I'll just notate the settings and make the changes. I'm on my first GB project so it's not a big thing yet. Really I'm having a great time with GB and getting a nice mix at the same time. I've spent much time trying to "engineer" when I should be spending...

If the sessions drop right in then am I to assume that all the GB plugins are in Logic so that the mix will translate?

    Mastering Plug-ins

Yup I guess he could hire better musicians to recut the tracks too. :p
