    Group Buy Interest?

Personally, I'd prefer the simpler unit. I don't really want to see EQ in a mic pre. But I'd like to understand how the two gain controls function. In any event, the simpler the signal path, the better. And it could have the added benefit of being less expensive.

Thanks. I just borrowed a bit of the web space that my provider gives me for free. I don't get much, but it's enough to post a short clip or two.

    Alesis HD24XR

I'm surprised to see this four year old thread pop back to life. :) First of all, if you need information on the HD24, join the HD24 discussion group on Yahoo: http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/hd24/ - it is very active and very full of knowledgeable people. Secondly, for transferring files...

A couple of samples of the ACM-310 I recorded some live bluegrass last weekend, and it provided me the chance to put my ACM-310s to work. Frankly, I think they sounded great, and so did the FOH guy. I mixed a short sample of the recording: http://home.roadrunner.com/~gilliland/Sample.mp3...

Your boss could afford to give you quite a bit more vacation if you agreed to work at a chinese factory worker salary.

    Group Buy Interest?

That's a pretty big commitment, so I wouldn't expect a quick answer. For one thing, that's a pretty big number of ribbon motors to replace - it would cut substantially into the profit margin on this deal (from their standpoint). And in addition, they have to figure out why the problem happened...

That's EXACTLY what you'd expect if you test it by listening "live". On one side, your ears hear an in-phase signal from both the acoustic and electronic sources, so everything sounds correct. On the other side, you get an out-of-phase signal from the mic, but the direct sound remains properly...

How are you judging the polarity of the mic? If you're trying to do it "live" - by listening in headphones while speaking/singing into the mic - you will find your efforts futile. The problem is that your voice is reaching your ears through acoustic methods at the same time that it's reaching...

That just tells us that the brand name (importer) follows this forum. That's no surprise. But the Chinese manufacturer probably does not (except perhaps when directed here by a major customer <g>).

There's two sides to every story. Clearly John felt that the Chinese unfairly appropriated his work. However, his work is closely based on "borrowing" from companies like AEA and Royer, so some might see this as a "pot and kettle" situation. And the Chinese seem to feel that Nady simply...

You may want to pass this along to them: http://www.venganza.org/about/open-letter And, btw, what is the best mic (under $200, please) to record the creation of the universe?

That would be excellent, Chance. I don't have an immediate need, but I think it would be an excellent idea to have some spare ribbons on hand. The difficulty, though, might be in how to pack them for shipment and storage, especially if they are pre-cut and pre-corrugated. I've toyed with the...

    Group Buy Interest?

Chance, that is very exciting news! The 310 is among the most promising of the mics in the current list, and as soon as I saw it, I wondered if there might be some addition capsules that would work with it. A larger diaphragm vocal capsule would add significantly to the utility of this mic...

    New Peluso Capsule

Do you suppose he'll ever update his website to reflect this (and other) newer product? I've sent him emails in the past and found it very difficult to get information about his products. How much is this new capsule?

Just log on to Paypal from time to time and check. If Chance sends you a request, it'll show up on Paypal even if the email goes awry. I just checked mine. Nothing yet.

    Group Buy Interest?

We wanted to do something like that on the last group buy. Unfortunately, when Chance tells Paypal to send the invoices, they will contain a fixed amount - it won't be possible to "add a tip" to the total. If you want to give Chance a bonus, you'll have to find another way to do it. And for...

I'd bet that it was more than that last time. I know that one of mine had a sagging ribbon, and I haven't yet checked the other one. I ordered a couple more ribbon mics this time, so we'll see what turns up.

Do you really need expensive stuff?

Sounds pretty cool, Harvey! I'm sure that my little computer speakers don't do it justice, but that sounds like a pretty nice result. It's obvious that the skill of the engineer is far more important than any limitations in the less expensive gear. What I really want to ask you about, though...
