I'm glad to hear the near-zero latency hardware monitoring is working on that unit in combination with the low latency software monitoring. I wish I didn't have to mute my recording enabled tracks in protools to use my headphones. Maybe I'll upgrade to pro tools 9 one day and get this interface.
That's right. I have the original cheap "studio monitors" from way back. M-audio's first forray into budget studio monitoring.
I'm wondering what would be the minimum amount of money I would need to spend to achieve a meaningful (AKA significant and totally worth it) upgrade, and exactly...
In general, I think parallel compression makes a track sound louder and more full, while regular compression makes a track sound louder and more aggressive.
I typically use regular compression on things like vocals and bass guitar that I want to maybe roughen up and distort a bit. Standard...
Who is doing it?
Why or why not?
If so, is it more useful in mastering or for use during mixing on individual tracks?
Do you use plugins or track inversion?
What are some situations that it is most useful or should be avoided?
I love the part where they brag about their "all new deesser," as if they just invented the deesser, and then they avoided saying the word "autotune," referring to it as "the effect made popular by cher." "Autotune" is not trademarked for audio. Could it be the stigma?
I checked it just now and didn't see anything like that. So I put my email address in and it sent me a link to download it, which worked. Whatever happened must be fixed.
I tried mixing on a $150 pair of headphones, but they hid comb filtering and didn't show enough detail for accurate mixing, as my monitors revealed instantly when I hooked them up. I can't see any way to go other than having quality headphones for tracking and quality monitors for mixing.
When I get a cold or anything that causes congestion, it can rob me of my singing voice for a while. The things I do to clear it up are:
use decongestants (i.e., pseudophed);
avoid dairy products (i.e., milk or cheese);
avoid antihistamines (because they fight the decongestant);
drink hot tea...
I selected lessons. I learned to sing classically by joining chorale in middle school to get out of PE. We did scales and breathing exercises daily, and really learned to "open up" by dropping our jaws as far as possible while singing. We also learned how to pronounce english words a certain...
See this old but goodyy thread about recording room shape and the golden ratio. There is a minimum room size too, so it's not about getting smaller. You just want the right shape.

If you don't have a good room, then simulating a room in...
There's no right answer to your question. Capturing the live sound of a guitar cab accurately is the holy grail of recording. There are so many variables based on your rig, your room, and your levels, you just have to experiment for days or weeks or months until you get close.
But I think...
Sorry, I don't know anything about that one except that it is a condenser mic and therefore I will not use it becasue I don't have isolation to keep out all the extraneous noise.
If you want a survey of some good mics to get, you might want to download this free pdf on how to set up your home...
37 CFR202.3 says that only one author needs to be common among all the elements of the single work. But I was looking at the copyright forms today and I couldn't figure out which form to use to register an album.
Is registration of a single work having different authors only permitted if the...
Here's an article I found on it.

What is unclear to me is whether those courts require that all authors of the individual works be listed, without saying which authors authored which ones of the individual works, or if they require that...
In a conference I attended this year, I was surprised and alarmed to discover that US Courts have split recently over an issue that might impact many home recording artists seeking to save money on copyright registration by registering albums, instead of individual songs.
Basically, some...
I agree that hard drive speed can be a huge deal, especially if you are using one hard drive, which is common with laptops.
Unless it changed very recently, world's fastest laptop hard drive is the Seagate Momentus XT. It's a hybrid. I'm enjoying it, and it's not a bank breaker.
Pro Tools is...
