    Our EP is dunzo!

Retracking the drums to individual tracks is the only pro option. If you can't do that for some reason, and you want to try and salvage it as a demo, you might try copying the track a couple of times and doing motown compression on the primary snare and kick frequencies. I thnk kick might...

    Does This Sound Familiar?

I sort of wrote/improvised this "song" recently, and I am wondering if this is one of those times when I have unintentionally copied something else fairly closely. It's not the sort of thing I normally write, and it came along a little too easily. Plus it just plain sounds familiar. Or maybe...

Need Some General Considerations for Recording Acoustic Guitar

I recommend this sticky thread on acoustic guitar recording. It's in the recording techniques section, and not in the acoustic guitar section, so maybe you overlooked it. https://homerecording.com/bbs/general-discussions/recording-techniques/acoustic-guitar-recording-101-a-290919/ Some...

    Get Thy Bearings: criticism appreciated

OUCH! Guess I was too harsh. Have no fear. Next time I see your tune slipping onto page 2, I'll steer clear.

    Mastered - Sweet Addiction

Played it for the room. I'd tell you the consensus, but don't want you getting a swelled head.

    Get Thy Bearings: criticism appreciated

Wow. I can't believe I listened to the whole thing. I need a hug. OK. I presume you meant for the vocals to be that pitchy. Otherwise, I'm recommending autotune for the first time in my life. Maybe it's just me, but I could do without that whole cacaphonic 2 or so minutes of whatever that...

Just how do you get a record deal

Only because incest and statutory rape are against the law.

    Tonight Tonight

imho, vocals need to be louder. Also, seems like the vocals need to be fader automated to swell at key points, and then go soft again.

ART ProChannel vs. ART ProVLA and ART ProMPA

I just returned an ART PRO VLA II. I know its a good, transparent compressor for anything that doesn't require a hard knee. But it turned out I just needed a hard knee compressor for use on bass DI, and I couldn't justify budgeting more than one compressor right now.

A Short Rock Original - "Work it Out"

    Moar Fuk Pleez

Thanks for the feedback. Negative attention is better than no attention. Keep it coming :P I keep picturing you with your face all scrunched up trying to be nice and then you get a hernia. lol

    Requiem for a Drummer

Requiem for a Drummer The only 2-bus effects on this mix are EQ and dither, so don't give me any crap about it being overcompressed.

New to recording -- What's making this acoustic-electric sound so bad?

I have a Taylor acoustic with maple back and sides, and I find I get best results by running it through an acoustic amp and micing the cab, then using parallel compression. If I had the model with rosewood back and sides, I would mic the guitar instead. But I find that micing the cab works...

    Oh The Moral Implications,..

I think quantizing is fine for fixing mistakes and making loops, but I would try to avoid using it on everything all the time. Some songs are going to benefit from a temporal ebb and flow that defies your DAW's grid. These are the same songs for which loops can't be used effectively. You'll...

Recorded Songs Burned To CD: Are They Digital Or Audio On The CD??

The opposite of digital is analog. Both audio and video can be stored in either a digital or analog format, depending on the format of the recording medium. If it's on tape or vinyl, it's analog. If its on CD, Blue Ray, Laser Disk, RAM, ROM, bit register, etc., it's digital.

Vocals sound great in real life, but not when I record help with this

Yeah. You gotta get up and do your thing. Body movement is key to getting a lively vocal recording. I don't know if you've ever seen a documentary or anything like that on voice actors and so forth, but it's hilarious to see them bouncing up and down on their stools while delivering even the...

Vocals sound great in real life, but not when I record help with this

How does it sound different from you to other people? For example, does it have more low end?
