I'm thinking of buying a set... would you recommend it for the price? How do they do on reducing sound transmission? Thanks for your replies guys.

Acoustic Panels... Audimute blankets... Acoustical foam... help?

Thanks for your response.. Where is this fiberglass purchased at? Also, what about the blankets in the second link... those seem like they'd be very portable and easy to set up and take down... What about a combination of one or two of the things in the first (or I can build my own) and one...

Acoustic Panels... Audimute blankets... Acoustical foam... help?

I am trying to do a little bit of cheap sound deadening in a small apartment room... (about 14' x 15' x 9') with sliding mirrors parallel to each other and god knows what other acoustical problems... the reflections make vocals sound metallic almost and I really need to do something about it...

So, this looks like our final studio list...

I don't really have extensive experience on expensive mics but from what I've heard I think it might be worth it to ditch the neumann TLM and C1 and step it up to an older U87 and replace the ksm 32 with a 44... or that's at least what I would do if I had the money. I've had the C1 for about 2...

Firepod vs Mackie Onyx vs Tascam

The firepod is a fine piece for the price. Don't know about the others.

the BricK The Tampa Safesound dmp3

The brick is unique because it is the only REAL tube preamp at a price like that. It's not a starved plate design and no other manufacturer's have gotten to that point with their "tube" products so unfortunately you're not going to get the same kind of thing for 300-350 (after haggling with...

The brick is big and warm... it's always been described as really wide sounding if that's what you're looking for.

I just won the Rane ms 1a and a microphone on ebay for $8... so I assume the 1b can be had for much cheaper than $200

    Mackie 808S vs 808M

I have the 808M and I've had it for around 4 or 5 years... the effects unit broke within a year and I really doubt it's pumping 1200 watts out. But it has been a faithful workhorse. Anyways... it's 8 channels and mono and the S is 8 channels and stereo. I'm almost positive that's the only...

    your fav. dynamic under $100(NOT57!)

I just got an RE-16 for like 85 or something... I have to say that this mic is high quality stuff. I've only tried it on my voice but I was shocked at how... I don't even know how to describe it but it's extremely pleasant. Thanks Chessrock for the suggestion.

Shure PGDMK4 Drum Mic Kit, ADA MP-1, etc.

Shure PGDMK4 - Like new... not a thing wrong. (and the pg56s are really decent tom mics) Clips, mics, and case included (no cables) Looking for $150 including shipping if you just want the case or not including shipping if you want the big ass box it came in. ADA MP-1 - Guitar Preamp... only...

    pg52 or beta 52

I have the PG52 and I will be selling it. It's fine for a budget but I basically ended up scrambling to sample. You're definately not going to squeeze some studio quality kick out of it. I just bought an RE16... I'll let you know how that fares on kick... it's findable for pretty cheap. (50-100)

Gefell m930, Sound Card, or Preamp

yeah I think you really need to upgrade both those components... if you could get yourself a fireface, firepod, aardvark Q10 or something similar and a decent budget preamp like the brick or RNP, you would see a TREMENDOUS improvement in sound quality.
