New latin type groove - feedback please

I agree! A guy could go to Guitar Center and buy a set of two little conga's put together for about $60 bucks..... and then spend $10 on a shaker and really spice up the existing computer drum track.

    Any thoughts on this song?

Honestly, You're the type person I would want critiquing my stuff in this forum. I've got a wife and lots of friends who will say..."It's good. I like it.... WOW." I think often in this forum a person has to read between the lines to "get the lowdown". That being said.... I recognize...

    Any thoughts on this song?

You should get someone to come in and put some real, big, booming acoustic drums on this thing and scrap what's there. I like the song and I think it has a lot of potential..... but man.... those drum tracks don't work. Just my opinion.

    My first MP3....would love feedback

Dito on the drums. But I give you a thumbs up for using live drums. Acoustic drums are a difficult thing to record I think. Especially if you are engineering and playing both. I liked the music. The elec lead reminded me of a Neil Young type scale. (and I like that)

    Critique the mix??

    Okay.... thanks twist.

    Critique the mix??

Here's a song most of you won't much care for. Slow... very religious.... lady singing. I played the music for her and she sang it. I'd like some critique of the mix before I give her the cd. Thanks guys. Song is "I give my life lord" Link is...

    what mic was it?

I'm probably in the wrong forum.... but...... I have the DVD of the Eagles Hell Freezes over reunion concert. The toms are miced with a couple of LD condensers. Anyone here recognize these and able to identify them? Thanks

Chinese Manufactured Mics-for the sake of newbies.

re·gime also ré·gime ( P ) Pronunciation Key (r-zhm, r-) n. 1) A form of government: a fascist regime. 2) A government in power; administration: suffered under the new regime. 3) A prevailing social system or pattern. The period during which a particular administration or system...

    Recording Shakers

I've recorded a shaker a couple of times. Once used a Studio Projects C1..... and the other used an ADk a51s. Thought both came out good, and was easy to do. But maybe I'm not particular enough about a good shaker sound. I put the mic on a stand all the way down. Sat in a chair in...

    Adk A51

If you are going to record an acoustic guitar.... you won't like it gated. I'll bet money on that. It is a matter of signal to noise ratio. You have to increase the desired signal into the mic above the noise level. If I'm fingerpicking softly .... I move in very very close to the mic...

    Adk A51

Gating works well and is pretty easy to do with vocals. It's a little more difficult when recording a guitar. Often you want the sound of the guitar to die out naturally.... or to sustain naturally.... but when you gate it.... it gets clipped at some point. Obviously and adjustable point.

    drummer timing

LOL..... That was a funny post. I play drums most every weekend. Nobody wacks me with anything.... but our bass player (old guy who has played with Della Reese) gives me the evil eye every now and then.

    Adk A51

I've got a couple of ADK 51s 's too. I like them. Just figured out last night that they mic drum toms really well :) You have to make your room as quiet as you can with a LD condensor. IF.... you can increase volume into the mic, and turn its gain down on the board without hurting...

    drummer timing

For recording..... I lay down a click track that has acoustic guitar, vocal, and click drums (casio keyboard, or alesis unit) together on one track...... to be thrown away eventually. Then play drums, then bass, then rhythm guitar. I almost always do it in that order. Then I'll play...

    Flashy Drummers

You can download free MPG's that teach you how to twirl sticks. Just do a google search..... (then be ready to practice a lot) :) When I saw Pat Travers years ago..... his drummer threw 40 or 50 sticks out in the crowd during the song "Boom Boom, out go the lights". Everytime he hit the...

    ...Bonham set???...

When I saw Bonham and Zep in "77".... he had more drums than you could count from where I was. And a gong behind him.

    Phantom Power

I'm looking to buy a unit for supplying phantom power to 4 mics. Crown and a number of people make similar units. I don't want anything that will be noisey. Any to stay away from? Any that are prefered? Thanks

    Paging Track Rat

Thanks for the help guys. The new heads helped a lot. I was watching my Eagles DVD and it looked like they were micing the toms (actually pretty much everything that I could see)with condensors. I guess a guy could spend about as much money as he wanted to on this stuff.
