    New Original

This is a religious Chrtistian song. Actually, it's an analysis of today's trend in church music. The music called "Worship Praise" music. It's a simple recording.... and some might notice a vague Dylansque style in it. :) If you grew up in a church and aren't fond of today's church...

    Yamaha msp5

I don't know how good they are.... but they do make my mixes sound better. I guess that's the bottom line. I'm kinda getting used to them.

    New Project Original

Thanks guys. I bumped his vocal up a couple of db and replaced his acoustics with a couple of mine.... until the quiet end part. Didn't compress anything yet. Just for fun, because I think he'll want the other one. I agree..... he's a pretty talented young man.... especially when you...

    New Project Original

Yeah, I agree. I can turn the acoustic guitars off and it's a LOT tighter. And those tracks were done after everything else. I don't have any compression on the drums. That might help them? The vocals are where the guy wanted them, but I agree with you.

Our first effort! Be gentle lol!

Pretty fun sounding song. Nice mix. Really good vocal. I agree with the turtles comment. I like it! What's the signal chain on the drums?

    "Sunday" - comments welcome

I like that. Pretty interesting. Good lead vocal. Tambourin fit in there REALLY good. Nice light, airy song that I liked. Sounded like everything was recorded by a "room" mic? Pretty cool. I might have changed a couple of notes in the sax lick if I was doing it :) And the...

    New Project Original

I've been recording a young man (student). He's recently learned to play the acoustic guitar. Writing songs etc. Part of my recording deal with him is that I'll play other instruments behind him. So here is an original. He performed the vocals and acoustic guitar tracks on. The mixing...

    mandolin

I agree with the tuner suggestion. I just use one of my guitar tuners. You know you can download free mandolin lessons (instructions) off the internet. Just search on mandolin lesson. I use regular guitar picks... but I know there are special picks for mandolin. Happy new year!

    roland vs2400 vs yamaha 4416

I use the AW4416. It sounds good. I've been using it for a couple of years with no external preamp and it does good. You have 4 position full prametric sp? eq, and fully adjustable compression on 8 different inputs. And you have two effects cards with all sorts of effects that can...

    mandolin

I'd probably buy the MM-30. Because of the spruce top. I bought a mandolin about 3 years ago. Gave like $100 or so off ebay. Off brand, but it's amazing how good one of those things (even though it's cheap) can sound when recorded with a LD mic. I think if you go with one that has...

    Yamaha msp5

Picked up a pair of the MSP5's pretty cheap a while back but wouldn't use them because I didnt' like their sound. I've used them to remixed 3 songs in the past week that didn't sound good on cheap boom boxes etc.... and they sound lots better. And they still sound good (really better) on...

first time recording with my equipment

I liked it a lot. I'm a fan of Christian pop and rock. Really well done. Really well written. What I didn't care for was the acoustic guitar at the front. Just thought it sounded not good. Could use a little more Bass guitar. Electrics were perfect. Also, needs the solo vocal...

    What the heck..!!!

I listened to about half of "stare". Sounds like you let the drummer mix it. And when the lyrics are 90% not understandable I figure the band hasn't much to say.

    hard disk recorder???

I use a Yamaha AW4416. Pretty incredible machine. Auto faders for controling pan, eq, effects levels, volume levels etc, two effects cards, records 8 at once. 8 virtual tracks behind each of 16 channels. If you haven't used this type of machine before, there is a pretty substantial...

    Collaboration NiGhTmArE !!!

all those musical ideas just go into the air and are gone forever so I don't tend to get real attached to music I make. I can always make more so who cares. I can relate to this statement. But what really torques me is the times that I get home afterwards and realize that my best, most...

    Sunday Morning...

Hey ... I listened to this song and it didn't have drums. Now it does. I like it better with drums. A lot better. But that's just me. Really nice job, and really good cover.

    Johnny Cash Tribute

Re: Perfect. Thanks for the compliments. I appreciate it. I record on a Yamaha AW4416 hard disk recorder. It's a pretty high end hard disk recorder. Auto faders etc. I did all of the tracks myself except for my wife's vocal track. (the kids are in college)
