Rock N Roll cover tune (this one rocks!)

Okay.... I got inspired by Hevyd47's cover of the hendrix song. This isn't Hendrix..... but it really rocks. I just tracked it today. Played all of the instruments. This is not a serious song. It's just really really fun. Song is "Good Ole Rock N Roll" Link is ...

In need of some fresh ears =)

Okay..... first let me say I'm no pro ..... and I'm about half deaf... but this is what I heard. Listened to the first one. I like the song. I wish my sound quality was that good. It's certainly not. I like the vocal a lot and wish I sang as well. Like how the band kicked in. I...

Mixed on forever and over produced?

LOL....... Hey thanks, I really appreciate the comments. No way I sound better than Dylan! He's THE MAN! :) Drums are real. Pearl kit....4 mics ---beta52, 2 sm81's on top, and a 57 snare. Organ is a Roland patch.

Mixed on forever and over produced?

Thanks.... I'll try that. The mic I used is a Studio Projects C-1. Positively 4th street is an awesome Dylan Song...... but not connected to this song. You are on the right track though.

Mixed on forever and over produced?

Thanks for the comments. I know what you mean about the vocal.... but I don't know for sure what to do to it to make it sound "part of" the mix. I can put some more body on it.... but it may get a little muddy? Or maybe some room verb? Any ideas? My voice on most songs generally has issues :)

    Lady Louse

Nice sound. I think you and I have a very different approach to music :) I liked it though. Was pretty interesting... and the gits sounded good.

Mixed on forever and over produced?

Here's a song I've had a for a while, and mixed on what seems like forever. Started out simple and has turned into some production. I'd appreciate any comments, criticizms, or whatever on the production, mix, song.... or just any aspects. Recorded on Yamaha AW4416 and I played all of the...

Which is better Akai DPS24 or Yamaha AW4416?

Thanks Garry....... glad you liked the song! Those drums are an old Roland TD7 electronic set that I pulled out of my atic. Everything else I do I use an accoustic set (with varying results). I think on that song it was just a TD7 setting flat, L&R stereo out and no EQ applied.

    )))Time for some Hendrix(((

Hey, that was pretty fun. I agree about the git. That Hendrix tone is pretty difficult to duplicate. Really well played though. And I liked the vocal. At times it sounded like Neil Young covering it. (I like Neil Young) Good tempo on the song too. A little quicker I think than the...

WOuld anyone be keen to do percussion for me?

My email server has some size limitations. Why don't you make a high quality mp3 and post it on a site where I can download it. Like Nowhereradio or something. Then I'll record some drums to go with it.

WOuld anyone be keen to do percussion for me?

I don't program drums...... but I've got an accoustic set I can record for you.

Which is better Akai DPS24 or Yamaha AW4416?

AW4416........ I'll give you a link to my nowhereradio page. Everything there was recorded on the AW4416. Scroll down to song #6. "Set My Soul Free" (I spent more time mixing it than the others). Recorded on AW4416. Used only 4416 preamps. Mics included Studio Projects C-1, ADK...

    Question about Impedance

I'm looking at a preamp that has variable impedance. How much will this really help (or make) a mic sound better? Can I damage the mic by running to low or to high impedance? Talking about condenser mics. Thanks for any answers.

What do you know about Digital Multitrack recorders?

I think you are right on the money. I've got an AW4416 and it is a VERY good machine, that makes very good recordings. Had it about 3 years now. And like you say..... you can use the preamp controls or not. I sometimes run through a tube preamp before hitting the 4416. And even then...

Do You Find The Way I Hard-Panned The Vocals Annoying?

I like the song., but I wouldn't have panned the vocal that way. I'm a huge Dylan fan.... and by far most of his stuff puts the vocal right in the middle, because most of the time his lyrics and delivery ARE the song. I would have put the vocal in the middle and the guitar panned. Also...

    akai vs. yamaha vs. korg

I've got an AW4416. It is a great machine. It will not be the weak link in your studio. I've had mine for..... I don't know..... close to 3 years. The fan noise is associated with the internal burner. Personally... I don't think it's that bad. I mean I record vocals with LD condensers...

    New Original

Thanks for the comments. I think it is my foot you hear toward the end. My studio is upstairs and it's pretty easy to pickup some foot stomping sound. I could put some verb on the harmonica. This was a one take, two track song. Miced the guitar with an SM81, wore the harmonica and...
